  • hi guys. I wondered if anyone has a good handle on Octopus tariffs. On March 24th 2026 I emailed Octopus asking to switch to Cosy from Agile. I had a vague idea of the tarif from mysmartenergy. By 27th March they hadn’t responded so I sent reminder. They sent me a link that didn’t work so then after a couple of days I had to phone them to them. So I eventually got switched on 30th March. I was very shocked at the rates that came up initially on the dashboard: 35.05 low rate17.09 off peak52.58 cosy peak. I queried this and they adjusted them to 31.54, 13.68 and 49’07p. Ive found Agile to be the cheapest but rates were rising due to the Iran war. We’d previously been with Agile but had switched out when energy shock in 2022 happened. I’m totally puzzled as to what rate I should be on as I believed the low rate to be sub 30p.

    Go here https://octopus.energy/tariffs/

    DON'T press 'get a quote'

Scroll down and put in your postcode to search

    Click the 'historical' tab

    Select 'domestic' and 'smart' filters

All the previous tariffs will be there you may need to do some scrolling.

It is fixed for 12 months, I think, so the medium rate will reflect that, but it is only really worth doing if you are going to be able to load shift to the low rate, which I presume you can do as you have been on Agile, which still has a very high s/c for most folk. If you are using a battery then you have to add 20 percent for efficiency losses.

On March 24th 2026 I emailed Octopus asking to switch to Cosy from Agile.

The current Cosy rates for Southern region are:

Taking regional variations into account, your "31.54, 13.68 and 49’07p" seems about right.

I’m totally puzzled as to what rate I should be on

Which tariff best suits you is going to depend on your usage. How much electricity do you expect to use in April? Do you heat with electricity?

as I believed the low rate to be sub 30p.

I don't think that's been the case since the brief 6-month Cosy fix that was offered in early March.
