NST February 2026 - You Are Enough

Had my shower early on and cleaned my mask and hose (I've been thinking of any ways I might re-infect myself and eliminated them including being vigilant with mask hygiene). Emptied the veg basket - ancient red onions have been used as topping on cheese spread rolls and wraps, have cooked a butternut squash and 4 baking potatoes in the oven. Most of that has been eaten, the remaining butternut squash will be added to curry or stew. Need to work on the egg mountain. Am thinking I may let half of the tea lights go - they were bought for mum's last Christmas and I've barely used any in the intervening 3 years. They don't take up lots of space but are cumulatively very heavy. I want to clean out the corner that was temporarily tidied and 2 large cube shelf boxes are blocking easy access (if I want to stand or sit in one place and shuffle things into order).
Grateful for good fun film, good book concluded (3 to choose from next), simple games and puzzles

Shopping day today, went early and got a good veg box from L*DL 😊 It contained loads of different vegetables and fruits. I only had to throw a few dried up pieces of ginger in the compost bucket. I immediately cooked the little bunch of beetroot, froze the better pieces of ginger, made a banana and walnut cake with the squishy banana (plus another one from the freezer) and made soup with the leeks and a few languishing potatoes. Still have lots of different things in the fridge and fruit bowl, even a pineapple, cherries and raspberries.
Pouring with rain here for most of the day again - when will it ever stop? Lots of soggy towels on the airer 🙄 And the dog is bored and being a pain, so I have filled his snuffle ball thing with bits of food to occupy him for a while.
I need to sort out the airing cupboard to make room for the previous load of washing, which has had its time on the airer but would benefit from a stay in the airing cupboard. Some of it will need ironing 😕
Also need to make pies for dinner(s) but the pastry and filling are both ready, just need to be assembled and baked.

I'm so sick of the rain too. Our gas bill was horrendous last month because I had to have the heating on more to 1. get the damp out of the house and 2. get the washing dry. Even spun most things twice (hence higher leccy too). £250 a month for both, which used to be £100 before 2020. Crazy. And the house isn't even warm.
Good, rant over.
Yesterday, I found some HM ham stock in the freezer and some sad veg in the fridge. Added some leftover roast veg from Sunday and a few other bits and bobs and made a lovely soup for my next two lunches.

Interesting week:
Roommate G who is usually drunk fell two days in a room and the paramedics had to come and get him up both times - second time they took him to the hospital. Was there for three days. Then last night, one of my roommates (J) apparently had a fight with his girl friend and posted online that he wanted to kill himself. She called the police and they showed up at 11:30 last night to have a welfare check. Recommended that my roommate D and I go away somewhere overnight in case he became violent. Can't fit two walkers, 3 people and three cats in our car - plus don't have anywhere to go away to. So had a sleepless night. Today he came down and went to Disneyland with D. I'm still upset. If it weren't for family history and reading, I think I would have gone bonkers this week. I've read 5 mysteries this week already. Did two extra nights at the Family History Center too to get away from everyone. Think calming thoughts Nancy - you don't really want to do in all of your roommates.

Jeez. That sounds dire @weenancyinAmerica. Glad all was well in the end.
