NST February 2026 - You Are Enough

Evening all,
I was called into work unexpectedly for an extra day, (boo) as someone was off sick, but am determined that I will be staying at home tomorrow ☺️
I have a referral for heart investigations as a result of yesterday's medical frog. Hopefully it will be on a work day so that I will get a day off for a change 😎
Apart from that, did the shopping early before work, so got that done at least.
All meals were from home. We turned out 2 large pots of 'Christmas potatoes' yesterday from the growhouse, which I didn't have any expectations for, as they had got well and truly frosted during a cold spell last autumn / early winter. However, when OH upended the pots into the wheelbarrow, there were plenty of lovely little new potatoes for a meal for the two of us. In fact more than one meal had OH not had several portions😂 They were yummy, and we had them with marinated salmon and broccoli. Very nice.
Just checked the premium bonds site and I have won £50 😁 Hardly ever happens.
Grateful for surprise potatoes and a surprise premium bonds win.

Good morning,
gosh when does it ever stop. It's has been 3 C with constant rain now for 3-4 weeks with no end in sight.
NSD number 4 today with 2 more to come as I'll spend the next 48hrs in work (not constantly working obviously). Brought lunches, dinners, drinks and snacks so I won't need to spend money. Looking forward to not to have worry about dinners, school runs, chores etc etc.

I asked for a bread maker for my birthday (I know they're not necessary but the kneading and resting etc puts me off baking break :( ) and need to make a new sourdough friend to play with.

My Sourdough recipe is very low kneading, but has a very long time rising in the fridge. Good luck with your machine!
Today will be NSD3 for me. Top two floors cleaned and bathroom polished. Bins emptied and recycling done. Just need to hoover and I can spend the afternoon on the ground floor sorting and doing ... more .... laundry ( because I have stolen their dirty clothes from their rooms). I released the dirty mugs from their imprisonment too. Will finish the daft book today and put it in the recycling bag to donate tomorrow.
Lunch from stores, supper from stores, new book from stores.

I went through my finances yet again. Recently someone asked if I tackle the OD first and I said I'll do a bit of everything approach. However, I reconsidered. The monthly interest payment didn't seem that bad but the actual % is horrendous. So I will take that advice and the OD will be gone next month. Then I'll start saving (emphasis on debt avoidance for planned necessary spends) with the main focus being reducing the debt asap.

I think that’s a great plan.

A quiet day for me as they have gifted me the cold they got from the family they visit at weekends (so generous those small children). At least it explains yesterday's sluggishness. I looked for some suggestions baout having a cold and being miserable (it's a stupid cold, sneezes are very theatrical but my nose is going sore - finished one box of tissues and started a new one) and have followed some of the ideas.
I had an all over wash with wipes and have followed up with 2 newly found moisturisers/ heel balm and sleep balm for my headache. I've been watching Inspector Alleyn episodes, some I've watched before, some new (featuring a very young Samuel West and the tall blonde one from Law and Order). Going to look for a film soon. Food so far has been from stores (nothing spent on groceries). I've realised that a lot of my food shops are motivated by cravings. I'm trying to give them up but not going cold turkey yet, just doing as many days as I can manage without them (progress not perfection). Aiming to get nearer to where I want to be.
Grateful for good books (started the second large print book from the throwing out pile at the library), undemanding series, excellent bacon soup (all gone now).

NSD #2 for me today. We had a lovely sunny day with no rain today, so I took full advantage and got 2 loads of washing almost dried outside. It was the first time we have had a fine day here for ages. OK, it was a bit windy and chilly but it is only February. Back to rain again tomorrow though, according to the BBC 🙄
Other than that, I washed my hair and did the usual routine chores, kitchen, bathroom, remade bed (I had stripped it to wash the linen), sorted the houseplants etc.
All meals were from home as usual. I shopped yesterday, so there is plenty of food in the fridge, freezer and larder, so no excuse to do anything else.
Grateful for lovely weather and almost dry washing 😊

Today I am grateful for scoring a liddle box ( 8 huge baking potatoes, pack of baby potatoes, pack of normal carrots, pack of chantenay carrots, cabbage, cauli, bananas, pack of parsnips), for a fun gym session, for being able to just spend time with Pip, for the air fryer, for managing to fit all the shopping in the freezer.
thriftylass, your plan sounds good. Keep us posted about your progress.
beanie, is your head healing up okay?
