Thanks for this @grandmanerd - I hate winter too, hate the cold and constant rain. I went for a long dog walk first thing with OH (and the dog of course) before the rain, and went outside and did a bit of tidying in the garden between the rain later on. I will build on this I think, getting outside even for little bits of time when possible. It definitely made me feel better.
Today is NSD #1 for me. I am not going anywhere and have no plans to buy anything. I am sure I will lose track before long though 😄
I will do some cleaning later
Grateful today for time outside and the spring bulbs appearing 😊

A New Year As always, these are not additional rules, they are entirely optional. Some are already in the challenge. They may offer a starting place if you're feeling lost, help you identify your values and core beliefs. Read through, either now or when you have time. Adopt anything you find helpful, ignore the rest
Gentle Goals for a New Year
Give more hugs
Seek the good in others and yourself
Make something beautiful
Read for pleasure
Tell yourself the truth, always
Listen more, argue less
Practice gratitude everyday
Drink more water
Be delighted by the ordinary
Remember the humanity of those who disagree with you
Try new things
Embrace Opportunities
Value yourself, Enforce boundaries
Spend time outdoors. Breathe deep
Fall in love with the person you are NOW
Most of all be KIND, because that is who you are

I have made a big veg soup for lunch, baked a loaf of sourdough, and made a curry for supper. While all that nonsense was going on, I got two loads of laundry washed, and thrown into the dryer. It is raining here. The washing up was also done, and another load of starter is fermenting for another loaf to be made tomorrow.
DS 3 will be the big 1-8 tomorrow. I will need to bake him a cake, so while the oven is on I will make a load of flapjacks to go on the lower shelf. Possibly some scones too. All from stores so no spends there.
No money will be spent today, I am calling in NSD #1
I planned for February last year, because this is a spendy bit of the year in F0xh0les T0wers with big birthdays, house insurance, stuff usually breaking, and the run up to SIPP deadlines, plus work going completely dead for a couple of months.
So DS's birthday money is from a regular saver that matures this month, the ISA interest comes in too, and the last decent pay cheque until after Easter came yesterday. Feeling almost prepared… or at least aware.
All bills will go out tomorrow, so will shop then, in between volunteering, cake, meal out, present opening, and all attributed general nonsense that goes with big kids' birthdays. Must wrap up the presents 'from his brothers' yeah, right.

This was very timely for me today:
Remember the humanity of those who disagree with youhaha.
I have spent the day cleaning and putting items up on V1nt3d and W@ll@p0p to sell. Quite productive. Also ironed some clothes for the week ahead, which it is unheard of for me to do, but as I was ironing the items to sell anyway, I thought I might as well. Totted up spends this week and I am under budget so will give myself a gold star sticker on the star chart I made to count down the months until I have enough cash to move out of my friends' place. Just a small, childish thing but I think it is motivating me 😁 especially as I splashed out on various other special stars and other stickers in addition to the bog standard gold stars to mark the milestones where I do particularly well 🤣
Grateful for being able to update my signature after payday, for the rain meaning I didn't feel bad having a slow-ish indoors day, for feeling much more awake after doing some pilates and yoga, for the animals and for you turtles!
F February is a Fresh Start. If the year so far isn't going to plan, have a fresh start. Your birthday, the Chinese Lunar New Year, each month and every day is a fresh start
I love this. At the moment I see each full/new moon phase as a fresh start. But I really feel that each day is a chance to get better, or just to BE, without trying to DO anything. Setting my intentions tonight along with the full moon.☺️👽️

Today I am grateful for good coffee, for the crocuses and snowdrops, for just sitting at the dining table in the kitchen and enjoying being there, for stabbing some giraffes, for music.
Thank you for the fresh start grandmanerd.
