That’s my mum dispatched home today. Will take a wee while to get used to her not being here!

Been awol, what with work and visiting DD1 for a couple of days. Back last night. This morning OH and I blitzed the house and did some food prep. Had GD aged 12 with us this afternoon, just waiting for her to be picked up before much longer. She helped me with my shop unit which was a mess after several things sold and the windows were changed which always results in random things reappearing, usually on the floor. Now sorted. Also visited the charity shops while we were in town. GD is currently crocheting on the rug by the fire. She is an ace crocheter, also other crafts. She had made me a new scrunchie for my hair using her sewing machine. Not sure where she got those talents from, not from her Mum or me, certainly 😂
We made chicken, jacket potatoes, corn on the cob and salad for dinner 😊
Work again tomorrow. Weather is horrible again.

It was late afternoon by the time I got online. The laptop was sulking because I wouldn't let it tell me about copilot - biggest waste of space since that dreadful paperclip.
Mrs Builder came so the kitchen and shower room are sparkling. We also cleared and cleaned the tall freezer. DS3 told me that I'd turned it off and he switched it back on. When I checked it smelt terrible so had obviously been turned off for several days. Luckily it was mainly vegetables so not a great outlay. All the drawers have been scrubbed. They haven't been put back as I want the cabinet to air out first.
Lots of rubbish and recycling went out.
I've had a fairly laid back afternoon (sneezing again but it's only a cold)
Grateful for good books, good films, getting things done.

Happy empty house @beanielou . Hope you find things easier with just yourself to look after now.
NSD#11
At work early today for a meeting, but pupil absent in the afternoon, so was allowed to leave half an hour earlier 😊 slept for 1.5 hours when I got home. Did a quick sewing job after tea, then a long soak in the bath.
Grateful that DS3's workout bench finally showed up, that my time at work is going better than some of my colleagues, & that it's fri-yay tomorrow!

Morning all, early one before work. I was woken up by (presumably) BT people on a cherrypicker in the street outside my bedroom window at just after 5 am, but wasn't upset about it as some of my neighbours will be, as I usually get up early anyway.
I don't like copilot either @grandmanerd - AI has so much promise in medicine etc but I get fed up with these 'tools' that are thrust at us whether we want them or not, and of course all the rubbish and disinformation on social media, much of which has AI origins even if it is constantly reposted by humans.
I have a slight cold again. Hopefully I won't be coughing at work today. I am asthmatic and if I start coughing I can't stop and people think I have the plague rather than a barely noticeable sniffle.
No plans for spending today (and limited opportunity as I can't leave work till closing time) but as usual I have lost track of NSDs. Dinner will be fish and chips cooked at home. I don't bother with lunch at work as there is nowhere to sit. I don't miss it to be honest. We often make a hot chocolate in the early afternoon to warm us up a bit, and that suffices.

Happy Fri-yay,
Another NSD yesterday. I have lost track but definitely did better than the last few months.
Also finally started exercising again, did some kettlebell at home yesterday (followed by some much needed pampering selfcare, been neglecting that a lot lately) and went to the gym for a bike ride today. Having a sore, sluggish body for the right reasons feels good again.
Budgets will be slightly over this month but it's still so much better than the last few months too. My awareness has gone up quite a lot in terms of unnecessary spending and the everyday snack buying for instance was almost zero at work. So this month has been a success let's say 70%. Next month will be even better.

A quiet, gentle day as I felt fragile when I woke up (nearly noon as I fell asleep again after taking my pills, after breakfast and after my shower). I received a letter about the final gas and electric bill and spent the afternoon trying to get the correct figures accepted. I phoned and after the numbered options hurdles it said my waiting time was 4 to 6 minutes. Just as I got to the head of the queue, the phone said I did not have sufficient credit to make the call and cut me off. I tried the online chat option - it cut me off 3 times (including getting the security question wrong because they misspelled my name on the bills). Finally with a bit of trial and error I managed to send them an email including forwarding the figures my niece sent me and the photos she had downloaded from my brother's phone.
I've done a small shop to replace some of the things that were in the tall freezer. They all squeezed into the small fridge- freezer (I had thought I might need to put the ones that were to be eaten first in the fridge but got them all in the 3 drawer freezer). It includes 3 pizzas for DS3 to replace ones I threw out and enough curry for 2 meals for him. He should have enough meals which he can cook himself (curry and most of a pack of pasta) over the weekend and into next week. I did a small non-freezer shop including items to bribe him with as there are several jobs that would be a lot quicker if he does the fetching and carrying. I want to do a bulk restock before the month end (some freezer stuff but mostly bulk tins and pasta). He did something for me the other day without arguing but asked afterwards if I had any chocolate (I didn't)
Grateful for some good tv films, my book which is now nearing the end and good food (nothing spectacular but warming and nourishing and no effort). I'm ending the day in a much happier place than I started..

A good day. Couldn't get the laptop to charge. I did buy a new one last time it was doing this but it took a while to find it. Meanwhile I put all the freezer drawers back (still not shut the door and switched it back on), charged both phones, took all the washing out of the machine and put it outside to dry, gathered rubbish and recycling and took it to the bins, ate from the stores (yesterday was a comfort food day with tinned soup and rice pudding)
Found the new charger, unwrapped it and the input is a different size, so put the old one back checking each conection and finally it worked. Added lots to the cs bag. Brought the washing in as it started to go dark - mostly dry, 1 t-shirt and the bath mat still have a little more to do. I may load the next load and set that off. I've had trouble following serious drama for the past 2 days so started a silly film.
I'm having trouble reading. I love reading, for years I got through 10 books a week but for the past year it's been hard. So I've started going through the book pile and discarding any where the print is difficult to make out. Things may improve when I've had my eye test but the last test was only a year ago so I'm drawing a line now and enjoy the books that I can manage. Similarly I struggle with thick books as the weight and bulk hurts my wrists, so those will go (some are 3 in 1).
I have a few more good habits I want to try adding this week, but will drop them for now if it causes problems.
Grateful for books, food and getting things done (even when it takes multiple trips).

Hugs to those feeling under the weather.
Another NSD, could be #12?
Had a lie in, then went for a walk with DH. After the torrential rain first thing, the sky was blue & we saw !!!!!! willow buds, snowdrops & beautiful yellow crocuses (croci? 🤣)
Read my book whilst eating dinner, then tackled a sewing frog, followed by a quick sewing job. Collected DS3 & friend from the bus, then did more of my jigsaw.
Grateful for a nice day, time to do my own thing & seeing signs of spring
