That sounds fabulous mary43. We have a small round quality street tin that would be great painted as it has a flat surface. Just limited by my imagination now.
Thanks furrypig. It would have gone in the bin.Think of happiness as a kind of mental gardening.0 -
Thankyou so much for all your great ideas on here :T As part of my decluttering mission I found lurking 14 tins
I now have my cookie cutters stored in 6 of these, rather than a huge bulging sack which never had a 'home',my lollipop moulds/sticks/bags are in another, jelly moulds in another etc etc and they have saved a load of space in my houseExcellent!!

I have a few of these found under the stairs from last year and there will be more from this Christmas.
I know the celebrations boxes can be used in the freezer or microwave although I have never done this.
People will say "storing things" but what do people store in them?
Was thinking of putting them in the recycling but thought I'd ask here first:)Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -

Hi mags,
I love tins!I use them as baking tins, for sewing bits and bobs, another to keep my food processor attachments tidy in the cupboard, one full of seeds for planting next spring. In the greenhouse I have one full of gardening string wire etc and quite a few in the garage full of bicycle repair kits etc.
This thread has more ideas:

Oh, I didn't realise that. Thank you!
I use those biscuit tins for:
transporting food to school for food tech lessons
transporting cakes etc if I'm making them for a function
storing:
seeds, lego (in individual sets where poss cos once it gets mixed up, you've had it!) costume jewellry, make up, kids crayons/felt tips etc, button box, sewing kit, small kids toys. Probably loads more but I've gone blank now
a couple of nicer ones (I've got a couple that have nicer piccies on which I got as a present - M&S I think) which go on top of the kitchen cupboards/window sill which hold:
1. power cut kit - batteries, candles, torch etc. Not my whole supply but easy to find in the dark to help me get started!
2. OH 'gibble'. Apparently this is essential and can under no circumstances be kept in the garage:rotfl:Houses battery tester, fuses, spare shoelaces, screwdriver sets, tape measure and other stuff like that
Any that are left over from this lot are seconded to the garage for screws and well, who knows what really, but OH seems very happy each time he gets a new one and runs off to put stuff in it quick before I find a better use for it!0 -

Oh, brilliant idea! Thanks! My food processor bits have a cardboard box to store them in, but you have to put them in the box in a particular way in order to be able to close the box and I never seem to be able to work out the correct way!
I'll see if they it in one of my sweet tins.0
