Wow, it's great to see that I'm really not a weirdo for saving tins!!!
(Most people I know give me 'that' look when I rescue an empty tin or mention that I save all kinds of containers. You know, that look that people have when they're dying to have a laugh about you when you leave the room.) To them, you just throw 'junk' like that away and if you need a container to put something in, you just go and buy one! Well, silly me!

I've got various tins (and jars) around the house. Mostly they're old SMA tins which I've decorated with patterned sticky-back paper, or a few are just painted. I've got a few Pringle tins too: well, they're not even tins, they're mainly cardboard, but they're handy for keeping those twisty things you keep open packets shut with in, clips, chalk, foreign money, and any other small items. I used to struggle to remember what was in some of them so I splashed out on a label maker from Tesco (£20) which is useful. I know you can write labels, but it just looks neater and more organised to have them printed out.
I have half a dozen or so sweetie tins in the understairs cupboard. They don't get great use of late, as my little monsters use them to stand on and just bash them up :rotfl:

Don't be dim. Save the tin!
    :o :shhh:

Got loads of sweets (roses, celebrations etc) for Christmas and now have empty tins.

Hubby says chuck them out as we have too much clutter already but I hate to bin them (albeit pit them in recycling) if there is a good use for theem I have overlooked.

    Thanks

If you have too much clutter already, then bin them. I use them for cake/bun tins.

Slightly off topic but also kind of related. I found that the tall plastic jar with the purple lid that came with quality street in it is the perfect size for storing my value spaghetti in. Prior to that I regularly lost opened packets in the bottom of the cupboard, bought more and the when I cleaned them found I had amassed loads!

Any tins with plastic lids..like the baby formula tins..or those that hold snacks...i find really useful, as you can easily slit a hold in the lid to make a money box...or a posting box for toddlers (they seem to love posting tin lids off jars into a metal container, as it's so noisy!!).

Got to say love Luna's idea for making hamper type gifts with them

I agree with what other have said in using them for cake tins.

    Also sewing kits

General storage for buttons, screws, nuts, bolts etc

Drum kit for small people - if you're feeling brave and up to the noise!

You say you have a lot of clutter - could they help to stash away some clutter?

We have several in the shed for bird seed. Not to mention the ones in the loft with Xmas decorations.

    Wow Luna 69!!

Wot an inspiration you are and I am sooo not throwing any of my tins away!!

What did you put on the tin??

Thanx so much for showing me this xxx

    Hi
Thanks... I used scrapbook paper, it was a bit of a nightmare as I put it on with double sided tape, it would probably have been better to have used either pva glue or mod podge type stuff, but I didnt' want it to wrinkle up so would need to test it first.

I do have other containers too I use, but I do sometimes have to get rid of them if I get too many, we also have too much clutter, but I do try to use them for storage if nothing else. Other halfs screws and bits that he insists will come in useful ,

We also discovered that the plastic tubs from that milkshake powder fit pencils in nicely.. not that we buy it anymore, but we did have a spare tub from a previous one.

You can go overboard and save too many though! :rotfl:
