I know...........done that in the past. Had a collection of tubs/packets/boxes meaning to do something with them and couldn't think what so ended up chucking them.
But with the christmas basket/hamper idea and the endless uses and ideas that keep popping up I'm starting to rack my brains for something to do with them. The only thing I can think of so far with this twiglets tub (bearing in mind its dark blue lid) is to cover the tub with paper or a collage of some desctiption and use it as a sort of 'pressie container' maybe for a small teddy (the sort that don't mind being squashed a bit) and some bath oil maybe.Mary

Thanks to this thread I now have all my cookie cutters stored together in one big tin. I seem to have rather a lot of them, they filled the tin! :whistle:0

We used a quality street tin a few years ago to store chalk in, for the kids to play with. Anyway, this year we were in Lidl and my daughter (5) saw quality street for sale and she said, look Mum, they sell Chalk in here!! I had to laugh.
I used the baby formula tins to store spices that you get from Asian shops.Penny xxx
Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.0 -
Slightly off topic but also kind of related. I found that the tall plastic jar with the purple lid that came with quality street in it is the perfect size for storing my value spaghetti in. Prior to that I regularly lost opened packets in the bottom of the cupboard, bought more and the when I cleaned them found I had amassed loads!

I use the jars I've got for spaghetti and flour. I've got lots & lots of tins, hubby has got all his nails screws spare car parts etc etc in some of them, I also use some for storing cakes and biscuits too.0 -
we use a celebrations one to store firelighters in - its great as its airtight so the smell doesnt escape (we;re yet to perfect the tumble dryer fluff firelighters!)Blah0

I'm using 2 for fragile christmas decorations, use others for cakes, biscuits and crackers.
I have a smaller one I use for buttons and a medium sized one for curtain hooks of which I seem to have amassed a huge amount
I have a couple of empty plastic sweet jars from a local shop - they're a useful size for storing crafty things in too, the top is big enough to reach into.
I never throw tins away unless they are absolutely bashed up and lidless!;)
I have a few old old tobacco tins of my dad's that I store needles, knob pins, safety pins etc in, they fit nicely in my sewing box. Had them a long time as my dad died in the 70's... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

We use one for the girls' felt tip pens, one for their stampers, sharpeners and rubbers and I have one in the kitchen for my cookie cutters.0

What a host of ideas - and fab pics of the hamper idea from Luna.
Why have I never thought of putting the opened packs of raisins etc. in?? I've used for cakes, biscuits, and photos that need sorting, but little else. Which makes me a very non-creative type! Must do better....Resolution:

I keep them for when I send visitors home with cakes etc. If I send my 'best' tins or tupperware I never see it again!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Wow some great ideas there
Could I ask though what you all use to cut a slot in the lid with? And how do you make sure it's not gonna cut you every time you put a coin in? (sorry to be thick!)
Also, where do you get the patterned sticky back plastic stuff from?0
