Elite Insurance / PwC letter re: Administration

  • I’ve received one today and have only bought this house a year ago so I’m assuming it was the previous owner who the policy relates to. He passed away so I can hopefully discard the letter.
  • I have received this letter also, addressed to myself and my partner ( we are not married and don't have any joint financial commitments) I found this very strange and neither of us are familiar with or aware of having any commitments with those company names.
  • My husband received the same letter.  After a long searching for information on the internet we discovered that the insurance covers things like motorhomes etc.  We had a motorhome years ago which is why they had his name and address.  I've now binned the letter as we got rid of the van a long time ago and not used this insurance company since.
    Hope this helps someone.
  • I also received a letter today and identified that it related to a policy of insurance for a conservatory from June 2016.
More concerning was a letter to an entirely different person at this address.  As we have lived here for 20 years and it is not the name of the previous owners who lived here from when the house was built i wonder if the named individual used our address to create a fraudulent policy document or PWC just got the name/address muddled up during the administrative process.
  • I received this letter today but like many of you don't know what it refers to.
Hoping I can find out as don't know what to do.
  • I’ve received a legal pack today from PwC regarding Elite Insurance Company Limited (in Administration). It contains a Notice of Disclaimer, a Practice Statement Letter (PSL), and mentions FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) eligibility.

For context, I had a small life insurance policy with General Accident taken out in 1996 and paid over 20 years. As many know, General Accident eventually became Aviva. I suspect Elite was the underwriter for this specific product.

The letter asks me to consider if I am an 'eligible claimant' under FSCS rules. It also mentions a Scheme of Arrangement—a plan to pay out creditors—with a potential deadline in late 2026.

Has anyone else with an old General Accident or Aviva policy received this? I’m particularly trying to figure out if being an individual (rather than a business) makes me automatically 'eligible' so I can register for the payout portal. Any advice on the next steps would be appreciated!

Did someone mess up at the consevatory place and put their name rather than yours when form filling?

Elite didnt write Life insurance and they only started in 2004 so couldn't have written your policy even if they had in 1996

You can only claim if you have suffered a loss which would be either a claim thats not being paid or you bought a 10 year policy in 2017 so are losing 18 months of cover

We received the same letter today, and were very confused, as we've never had any direct dealings with Elite Insurance.

However, having read this thread so far, we started digging out old paperwork for replacement windows etc.

Eventually, in the back of the contract pack for a solar panel installation, we found an Elite Insurance policy document!

It didn't cover any of the equipment or the installation, it just coved the Deposit we paid, in case the installer went bust before the contract was completed.  As such, it started on payment of the deposit and closed when the final balance was paid, in October 2015.

I can't see any way that we would be exposed to any loss with the liquidation of the company.

Just relaying our findings in case something similar may apply to you, so you're happy to "Do Nothing" as a result of the letter.

I received PwC pack regarding Elite and was totally unaware of them and any association I may have had. There may have been long into the past and any such insurance products would have expired by now. I will be treating this matter as no longer applicable if it ever was..?
I shall hold the pack for now however.

I have also received the same letter, haven't got a clue, so please keep the replies coming to find out what it's about.
