For info it seems that the mail merge has not worked because I have received the letter with a totally unknown addressee

How long have you lived there? Sure it wasnt a previous resident?washingdone said:For info it seems that the mail merge has not worked because I have received the letter with a totally unknown addressee
Probably more likely the records of customers addresses were wrong than the mail merge being wrong. On the basis of how many had no idea they had a policy with the insurer that already are on this thread clearly no one is going to remember to update their address if they can't even remember having a policy0 -
Same here, it was when we took out double glazing in 2014 and was covered by a 10 year guarantee insured by Elite. As the 10 years have passed I guess I can forget it.naturelover7 said:Hi, I received one of these letters today. Having searched for my policy number, I found that this was an insurance backed guarantee provided when I purchased new double glazing in 2014. Hope this helps someone.0 -
Seems to be legit.
I also received this letter today (23/1/26) and have tracked down the policy that it refers to in my case.
It was an insurance-backed 10 year guarantee for some double glazing I had installed by a local company back in 2014.
The insurance was provided through CPA Consumer Guard Ltd. and the insurer is shown as Elite Insurance Company.
The policy number matches my policy.
Since the policy is now expired, I will take no further action.

I've received a letter today from PwC who are administrators for a company called Elite Insurance that went into administration in 2019. That seems legit and I have verified on FSCS website.
The letter suggests I had a policy with them (quoting a policy number) and asks if I have a claim.
I have no recollection of using them and cannot find reference to them in my email under the company name or policy number.
I'm guessing they provided policies that have were used by other companies (e.g. GAP insurance, white goods warranties). I doubt I have a financial claim but I would like to know what the policy was just incase it was covering something important (e.g. a indemnity for a house purchase search).
Any ideas how I might find out what the policy was?
Thanks
Iain
I’ve also received a letter today from PWC quoting a policy number. It had me scratching my head, and like others my thoughts were “was it a scam” …Having read through plenty of posts on Google it would appear to be legit.
However, a Gibraltar based insurance Company did keep popping up in my old memory banks … Other than that I have no recollection of what this is connected with… If going on what I’ve read in the comments posted, it may possibly relate to some double glazing units/windows we had fitted when refurbing our house, which is way back now. And any glazing units that failed were replaced within the 10year guarantee period … The only other thing I can think of is, did we have gap insurance for a Motorhome we purchased back in 2014 … With that in mind I don’t think I will have any claim. And as mentioned in a previous post, I will only end up “being bombarded with legal letters”, to be then told I don’t have a claim.
For now I’ll just keep my eyes open for any further developments and post if I hear anything.
Thanks to everyone,
Miranda0
