    Hi all,

Not a bad day here but still chilly. Had to take our car to a specialist garage a 45 minute drive away….for 8.30am!! DS2 is the only one not working and with a car that isn't poorly, so he followed me and brought me back. It was foggy on the motorway. Upshot is the car needs this part which is c.£500 plus labour, and they will service it too. Can't do MOT's so our chap across the way will do that as have until 18th Feb. Absolutely nightmare given we plan to change the car before the middle of the year. It's a 10 year old VW and lovely to drive but when they go wrong, they really go wrong!!

Anyway, back on thread theme(!). Love the CS bargains @bubbs and those pictures are pitiful . No wonder people get bored/hungry/lose the will to keep going to SW.

    Food today:

B - banana, toasted protein bagel thin, scraping of light Philadelphia - Free, HEB, 1/2 HEA

L - orzo pot - orzo, red pepper, red onion, feta, sun dried tomatoes, red wine vinegar, satsuma, apple - free, S, HEA, 3

D - we are out at a family run Italian for DS2's birthday tomorrow (he's working tomorrow). We were going to get a Chinese takeaway but have had a recommendation for a restaurant in Maidstone. I have looked at the menu and think I'll go for Tegamaccio di Mare which is mussels, clams, prawns and diced salmon in tomato and chilli sauce topped with a fillet of seabass. It's served with bread, so hoping I can avoid that!

    HEA - milk

Syns - skinny bar plus 3 plus whatever oil is in the sauce tonight. I am driving DS2's car back so no alcohol syns = 6+

That seafood dish sounds amazing @Coxy11. My mouth is watering just reading it. 😋 Perhaps they'd do you a side salad and skip the bread. 🤔

If one of the meals is a quesadilla, presumably made with a wrap @bubbs. What's the other one? 🤔. I agree that people soon get fed up when they don't eat enough.

Apparently they've made yet another change for the worse to the forum @joedenise. There are many complaints on various threads especially when it comes to quoting parts of posts. I'm sure the outcome will be like it or lump it as we've had to changes in the past. ☹️

We had a warning for ice overnight so I got up a wee bit earlier to defrost the car - and happy days - no ice - and when daylight arrived, it brought pretty clear skies and even a tad of sunshine . Still ruddy cold and the odd shower. The roads are a complete mess, branches and rubbish everywhere ( bin day and a few nutters put them out last night as normal )

The boned stuffed chicken was absolutely lovely, really good and over half left so plenty for sandwiches for those that do. It's the second roast this week so Im not doing another. Tonight Ive found turkey burgers in the freezer and some frozen rolls and also a huge bag of beef stew left over from last week - so see what DH fancies

He is no doubt having a horrendous day. Where he works - wedding venue, specialist units, accommodation ( an old mill being converted as and when - its a beautiful place ) beside a river, which broke its banks yesterday . The accommodation and reception rooms were under a couple of feet of water - all soft furnishings totally ruined . Hopefully he went in with wellies and waterproofs

@bubbs - who's meals were those? Neither would fill a hole in a tooth And yes the formatting seems to have changed - ruddy annoying

My bargain was 15 rolls of kitchen towel for £10 Spar does weekly offers so I stock up. Im still wading my way through the three cases of Branston baked beans I bought last year - they were £1.50 for 4 cans and last week, fire lighters - 80 for £2.30 ( usual price 90 for £5 in Tesco ) so enough to get us through till the next time they come on offer

@coxy11 - your chosen meal sounds delightful, right up my street . If I was hungry Id be asking for a side of pasta rather then the bread, because for me I can stop with the pasta when full, but the bread, even if full Id be picking at it But just enjoy it

@Beanielou - how's you and mum with stitches and staples out?

@maman , what kind of dancing? I call my healthy extras - tasty and calcium lol. I dont bother with the healthy oil because I use tinned fish as free food and I spray olive oil instead of frylite

@joedenise - cant beat a haircut for lifting yourself. The washing is never ending here either, my clothes horse lives in the hall and there's another in a spare room which the sun hits . I do have a tumble drier but try my best not to use it, and now I have the cheap rate electricity I have to remember to put in on at 5:30 before I head to work

@Matron_Midge , thanks for the reminder about the caterpillars - I mean eyebrows. Im dreadful because I cant get them waxed and Im as blind as a bat so cant do them myself. Pre covid - there was a lovely lass who had a chair in the shopping centre in the next town over who did treading , and Id just pop in when in town. Now they have become franchises , you need an appointment, you never see the same lass twice ( some are better then others )

@Jellybaby - do you go to salsa alone? I really have tried to get DH who has two left feet attached to planks of wood to come take some kind of dance classes - but he won't

Tooth abcess is still there. No pain, but still swelling every time I eat :( Ill ring and see if he will give me another weeks antibiotic , else Im going to have to lose this tooth as well. I dont mind losing the tooth , Im resigned to that, it's the flipping cost of having one added to my plate that's making me hold on. Im sure Im going to need new glasses this year , so paying out on both - leaves things tight again. It just always seems to be an uphill battle trying to keep at a place where money isnt an issue . We arent on our uppers, but every penny needs to be stretched . We have been saving our pound coins for the past 2 years in a gallon bottle and just cashed it. Its our cruise or flights to Oz money , and I really dont want to see it being eaten up

    Morning all,

It’s all go here as we’re having our new front door fitted. Currently very cold as no door and it’s double width!! DS2’s birthday today but he has to go to work later. The meal last night was fab. The sea bass dish was very tasty and I swapped the bread for a side salad. I had water, Coke Zero and a peppermint tea.

I’ve just had a banana so far today. We might go to the village cafe for brunch - depends on the speed of the fitters and if there are questions. I will stick to just decaf coffee.

    Food today:

    B - banana, spinach omelette - free, P, S

    L - BNS soup, apple, satsuma - S

D - SW carbonara, Parmesan - free, HEA

    HEA - milk

    HEB - 20 almonds

    Syns - skinny bar - 3

Morning all, another dry day but rather grey and not as warm as yesterday. Good luck with the door fitting @Coxy11; hope it gets done quickly so the house doesn't lose too much heat.

Not much planned for today but hopefully will get going with sewing a top which I cut out yesterday afternoon - looks like it's quite a complicated pattern - not the usual straightforward type I usually go for but hopefully the instructions will be clear enough to follow!

    Todays plan:

    B -mushroom omelette - P; S

    L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles - HEA2; HEB; S

    D - toad in the hole; mash; veg - S; F; 6.5

    HEA1 - milk

    HEA2 - cheese

    HEB - bread

    Syns - flour 4.5; sausages 2

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, just a cold, grey day here.

@Longwalker I started salsa with a friend but she dropped out after a few weeks. My late DH always refused to go to any sort of dance class too though he was always the first one on the dance floor at parties! I’m the one with two left feet 🙈 and I must really enjoy it as I’ve missed it this week.

I’m continuing to try and use up cupboard and freezer supplies so menus may get a bit odd going forward 🤣

    Today’s food:

Breakfast - mango and coffee as I wasn’t really hungry

Lunch - L/over pasta bake, salad (counted 6 for chorizo last night so not syning today)

Dinner - chicken curry with homemade flatbreads (another DS creation so syns TBC)

Probably won’t have rice with dinner after having pasta at lunch. I should have planned better but when DS offers to cook, I never say no 😎🤣

We are having beef curry for tea 2 sv and naan bread hexb, bns chips and crispy kale (not had that for ages)

Had a picky plate for lunch , part hexa and 2 sv

Here is another corker of a meal 🤣🤣🤣 last night, steak salad!!! Not like my steak salad, now does that look appetising? Not in my book

That's not a salad that's lettuce! Not very appetising at all. There's no colour in that salad - where's the peppers, tomatoes, beetroot etc to make it look more appetising. Not very filling either I'd have thought.
