  • Well done @Tattypud - I know you mentioned that you had done £5 A Day previously, so you're well ahead for January so far. I'm not seen those offers on Topcashback. I might have a few too bank accounts right now, so can you remind me of that mid-summer when I'm scratching around trying to find money under the settee! (Actually might have a little look under there now!)

As I'm including my OH extra income too in this challenge I'm aiming for £15 per day but not hit this target for the current week.

    Prolific - £21.88
    OH overtime - £12
    Topcashback - £1.25
    Bank interest - £4.65
    Morrisons More Card - £5
Reduction in car insurance by going through compare sites - £40 - really pleased with this as it ended up cheaper than last year :)

    Total for Week 1 - £84.78
    Make £10 a day 2026
    Week 9 - £323.85/£70
    Feb - £842/£280
    2026 - £1150.40/£3650 (32%)
  • That's brilliant @Hollie_Hobbie! Good result on the car insurance, and aiming for £15 with the OH sounds like a great way to do it.

If you get £85 extra a week between you, and manage that 48 weeks in the year, that's over £4000 for 2026! And over £5000 of you manage to get £15 A-Day B)

It has been a mixed bag for me this week. I have quite a few things pending that I won't be counting til I can actually cash them out. I also keep missing out on Prolific studies because they pop up but by the time I have space to do them they've gone :'(  I have re-downloaded YouGov though and might get OnePoll back again. Anyway:

    Week 1 (2-9 Jan)

    Prolific: £7.10

    Week 1 Total: £7.10 / £70.00

    January Total: £7.78 / £310.00

    2026 Total: £7.78 / £3650.00

Question: Would you count things like "My Nectar Price" where you save eg £0.35 on tomatoes or is it strictly earning rather than saving?

You've gotten started, so huge well done for getting off the mark!!

I do the same in not counting things until I've actually got the money, so to have things going in the 'pipeline' is the more strategic way to do this for the future average amounts, when you start totting up your monthly and yearly totals if you want to. And even then, £7.78 a week still adds up to more than £400 a year!!

On Prolific, I will always just grab the place if I can, and if I don't have the time right away, I'll try to finish anything I have to within the 10 minutes it gives you, but if I can't, I'll start the survey and delay actually starting if I can/need to. Some of them that have 20 minutes for the task, will allow you 75 or 90 minutes. I've made a load on Prolific since NY slotting it in between work, but then I am lucky in that nobody is keeping an eye on my work times, so I can start work early, work though lunch, work a little later to make sure I do my hours.

I don't count all the money saved, because for me, it's great I get something cheaper, but I don't then do anything with that money saved; it will get swallowed up. I think everyone will do this differently though, and @Hollie_Hobbie made me think about this earlier in the week, because she had saved a good amount on her car insurance, and added it in, and I made a mental note to myself to remember to do that when my renewal is up, if I save anything of course.

@Hollie_Hobbie - do you count all your money saved on smaller items as well, or just the larger amounts?

Something I used to do, was have a £5 a day slush money account with debit card, and if I didn't spend it/had a NSD, I would move that towards my debt and then would count it as money saved. So seriously, interpret this however you want - count your £10 A Day however you want that keeps you motivated to continue the activity and engagement.

One other thought, on your example of £0.35 savings - does that add more to making the admin of this much more, or would you just count the total savings from the overall receipt if you do do that?

You do whatever works for you best, and suits how you're doing it! You'll do great :)

    Have a good weekend everyone!!

Today I've been uploaded stuff to Vinted as we are having a good declutter. Hoping it will keep me on track for January.

I really need to get a pile together and sign up to vinted! At the moment though, I seem to be onto a bit of a Prolific streak. I'm currently up to 30.34 in my balance with another 16.13 in pending...just for TODAY! Now, I have spent quite a bit of time on it admittedly, but even so - I'm pretty happy with that the return on my time.

Has anyone managed to get much out of Prolific since New Year? I've seen mixed feedback from people..

I keep forgetting to log on but the couple of days I have there's been nothing coming up for me - my details are up to date so I guess its just because I'm not logging on regular enough.
On a plus note I've sold a few items yesterday so £27 when they get delivered.

I did that for years - just kept forgetting. But I need the extra money so much now, that every morning I login on my laptop and keep it there all day and evening, and login in on my phone as well and keep the screen open balanced on my laptop, so if I don't see one, I'll hopefully see the other.

Yesterday I did a study about 05:45 and the last one was about 19:45! Dipping in and out obviously around working and housework, I made about £48 by the time I finished. Actually managed to cashout £35, so most were approved same day as well.

A lot of people would probably struggle to be able to do that much, but my day was flexible yesterday, and I really needed the cash.

Going to leave myself a big note for tomorrow  :D

On a more positive note, my energy supplier has credited my account with £50 for poor service received which I am not adding to the total at the moment but in a few months I will see what credit is left and transfer it.
