£10-a-Day Challenge: 2026
Hello everyone! I used to be part of this challenge years ago, and after a long hiatus I’ve found my way back. The aim is simple: find or earn an extra £10-a-day to put towards debt, savings, or whatever financial goal you’re working on. It’s a fun, motivating way to build momentum, and every little win counts.
Would love to credit the original poster, but can't recall, so I’m restarting the thread for anyone who wants to join in and give their debt-busting a boost, with sincere thanks.
How the Challenge Works
💷 1. Your goal is £10-a-day That’s £70 a week, £300-ish a month, or £3,650 a year if you stick with it. But don’t worry, or feel any pressure - it’s flexible. Some days you’ll smash it, some days you won’t. It’s the effort and progress that matters.
🧮 2. Tracking your totals weekly - but whatever keeps you motivated. Most people will post updates in the thread to stay accountable and share ideas with others. Posting a weekly tally aims to enable a frequent reset. Anyone starting partway through, or feeling like they are behind, won't therefore feel disheartened and abandon the challenge.
📚 3. Count any extra money you bring in. Examples include:
Selling unwanted items
Cashback
Surveys
Side hustles
Vinted/eBay sales
Couponing or savings that reduce your spending
Bank switching bonuses
Mystery shopping
Overpayments from rounding down your bank balance
If it boosts your finances beyond your normal budget, it counts.
🚫 4. Don’t include your regular salary This challenge is all about extra money, the little wins that add up.
🤝 5. Share your ideas and cheer each other on The best part of this challenge has always been the community. Tips, encouragement, and accountability make a huge difference.
🎯 6. Set your own target If £10-a-day doesn’t suit your situation, adjust it. £5-a-day, £20-a-day, it’s your challenge, your rules.
📅 7. Join anytime Will start the count-up from Thursday 1st January, but there’s no official start date. Jump in whenever you’re ready.
📝 How to Register Your Totals
Please add your own, optional, monthly/yearly totals as you go along. Just post your updates in the thread whenever you earn or save something, big or small. Then add your running total, if you want to, at the bottom, like this example:
Week 1
Nectar points redeemed – £7.50
Vinted sale – £4
Top Cashback – £11.23
Week 1 Total: £22.73 / £70.00
January Total: £22.73 / £310.00
2026 Total: £22.73 / £3650.00
💡 Tips for Smashing the £10-a-Day Challenge
- Keep a running ideas list – whenever you think of a money‑maker, jot it down so you never run out of options. Please feel free to share your ideas in your first post to help you get up and running!
Start with the easy wins – list 5 -10 things you can sell straight away. Quick momentum feels great.
Batch your earning tasks – surveys, cashback checks, and listing items take less time when done together.
Track everything – even £1 counts. Small amounts add up faster than you expect.
Use “dead time” – waiting rooms, commutes, TV time… perfect for surveys or cashback apps.
Celebrate the wins – share them in the thread. It keeps you motivated and helps others too.
Don’t chase perfection – some days will be £0, some will be £50. The effort is what matters.
You do you! - Don't compare yourself to others; do what works for yourself and your own set of circumstances.

I've started the morning by checking the MSE bank switch page. I've done a lot of these over the years, so only check in just in case. There are a couple of good ones there: First Direct, Santander and Nationwide. I've done them all! BUT, the Nationwide rules work for me, so in my case, I'm going to switch in again!BUT if you’ve previously received a bonus by switching into a sole account, and you’re now switching into a joint account, you will still qualify (and vice versa).
There are two accounts available, a packaged one (£18pm) and a free one.
This will give me a great boost to get a head start, but might not have the cash for a good few weeks...

Hi @MissMoneyMishap - this sounds fab! I did this years ago and would love to start it again

I used to do the bank switches - did them all for both myself and OH so made quite a bit - but will definitely do the joint account for the Nationwide that you mentioned above - thank you
Other than that I'll be doing Prolific and doing a big declutter so hopefully will make some money from that

Can I join, too? I'd forgotten I even have a Prolific account so thank you for the reminder!
This week I have made a whole 68p so far in cash back
– here's to next week 1 -
Great! Welcome everybody - sorry for my delayed responses @Hollie_Hobbie, @angelicious, @Tattypud, @FrugalAspirations.
I've had a slow start myself as been away unexpectedly visiting family, which was lovely, but a stark reminder that I need to get myself sorted to enjoy life, without living under this dark shadow of debt.
Coming towards the end of the first week, I re-read my own list to remind me of things I had thought about cashing in on, so I think by the end of tomorrow I should just about be on for £10-A-Day once averaged out, so going to look at the mystery shops to see if I can work on my pipeline.
Hope you've all had a good start to 2026!

I'm now trying to make sure I've got enough in the pipeline, so I've looked at the bank switches on the off chance, and sure enough!!

I've started the switch to Nationwide for a joint account, so despite having had switch money before, I have been able to switch again by starting an account with DH to manage our money better (he's good with money...I'm not!)
Lloyds is also available for me for the first time in years! They have updated their switch eligibility so if you've not had switch money from the Lloyds, BoS or Halifax since 1st Jan 2023, you're in!! And it's £250!! My last switch was December 2022!! I'm so happy! I'm going to do this one in a few days so it lands in February, hopefully.
The other two available are Santander and First Direct (but if you've done before, like me, you're not eligible).
That's me for the moment! I can't be bothered with selling sites just yet. I'll try to get my easy options in first.I'm always in it. I'm just about to apply for the two £25 offers for Cahoots savings on Topcashback - just need to open the accounts, put in a small deposit and then wait for the cashback. I was looking for a new savings account as well so it solves that problem.
January so far:
£65 on FB marketplace
£12 on Vinted
I have an account on Prolific but keep forgetting to log on (eek)
