2026 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD - our Year of Redistribution

Well I've had a bit of a write off today. I remembered I needed to put money on my phone so that I could phone the chemist for my repeat prescription. Refused to let myself go back to sleep at 6 am even though I'd only had a few hours. Started to go through the process, first snag was it wanted to know the phone number whereas previously it asked if you wanted to top up the phone you were calling from. This one was lost for a few months so I've got out of the habit of knowing it and it isn't listed in contacts as my old phone did. So stopped and looked for where I'd written it down.
Started again and it gave me an app to use. My phone doesn't do apps and neither do I really. Wrote the website down and tried on the laptop. A few missteps as it took me to weird and wonderful places (they really wanted me to have a new phone). Eventually got onto the right bit, scrolled down and there was a QR code and boxes to say whether it was an 'A' phone or the other one - mine's neither.
Later on when I knew they were awake, I asked if I could use Beloved's phone to call the pharmacy. DS3 came down with it and I read out the phone number for him, then realised it was way too late - they only allow prescription requests between 10 am and noon. I had looked their details up online as I'm sure there's a way to order prescriptions. They only offered a service where the pills come via royal mail and it cuts out the local pharmacy and their delivery drivers, so local jobs lost. At the moment, I phone the pharmacy, they fax the request through to my doctor and then they deliver the pills in one of their little vans.
Then I realised that I hadn't tried to put money on the second phone (reluctantly bought second hand when I gave up hope of finding the first one). I tried that (wasn't sure if I had used my card to pay for a top-up before or only the original voucher), but couldn't get the card number in correctly (fumble fingers) and then my hands started shaking. I reluctantly decide my only option was to catch the bus and go to the pharmacy (via the bus station as the nearer stops are closed because of work on the Civic Square). Just trying to get ready left me breathing heavily, going out was impossible (can't phone a taxi because no money on the phone).
Finally called DS3 down to use his nimble fingers and succeeded in getting money on the phone. Rechecked my pills and can scrape by for a week so as long as I phone tomorrow or Friday I will be fine (prefer 2 weeks because mistakes have been made and the pharmacy and doctor's just blame each other). I will still have to go to Tessimo's at some point to see if there's another way to get my phone topped up.
Collapsed on the couch listening to my chest making weird noises and interesting wheezes, watched another episode of A Touch of Frost and then had a phone cal from my brother. I had been hoping to announce that I'd decluttered half a house (grandma's house, owned jointly with my brother) but apparently the sale didn't go through last Friday either (previously expected 19th December). So don't immediately have to phone Utilities and Council over the bills BUT still in limbo.
So I've given up on today, just going to lie here, calm my breathing, eat and relax, lurgy is getting a grip once again.19 -

That is a very good point!Excellent decluttering & sorting Yorkie1 👏 As to This “I am debating whether any of the remaining ones (plastic boxes) may be useful e.g. as seed trays later in the spring. But I must guard against the "just in case" thought process, which is why I have so many to start with!”, just one question ‘Are you likely to get any more in over the next couple of months?’ If the answer is yes you can afford to be brutal when decluttering your current supply of plastic boxes 😉

@BlueJ94 good luck at the dentist tomorrow.
@grandmanerd I hope your breathing has calmed down now.
I don't have the energy to make time for decluttering during the week, so most is on hold until then. But the plastic lids and remaining boxes will go in next week's recycling.17 -
Grandmanerd. I put my phone number in my phone contacts as my name.
Gone today, a broken floor mop
a light fitting I haven't used, thrift
a silk bag I had made for scrabble tiles, bin
a velvet pumpkin, bin
a cat puppet,bin
soft plastics recycled
envelope full of used stamps, local hospice
I decided to empty the last 2 banana boxes from the move. They have been in a kitchen cupboard. Surprised to find a mouse had chewed some things hence bin. Lots of packing binned and boxes cut up and put in recycling. Everything washed and most things already found a home. There's no back on this particular cupboard, hope to declutter mousey boy soon.
I didn't find what I was looking for. A coffee set I want to display on some shelves. Can only be in another cupboard where I unpacked but didn't unwrap. That's a job for another day.

Could you get a sim card that you pay each month for, rather than PAYG? Lebara do them for £5 a month and you can buy them at Tesco etc.grandmanerd said:Well I've had a bit of a write off today. Started of pretty reasonable this morning but by about 3pm it had turned quite chilly. Then it started raining. Not that nice big fat drops of rain stuff but that horrid, sneaky mist type of rain that seeps into your very bones.Decluttered some bits of salad out of the fridge as they were really past dead.Made a lovely sausage casserole for dinner and one serving for the freezer.
Listed some bits on Vinted.Debating on buying a soup maker, will I have enough use of it to justify its place in my cupboard? The one I’m looking at also does fruit into compote and smoothies. I’m not a smoothie person but a bit of fruit compote is handy for overnight oats or a summer pud. Have to think.Hope everyone’s had a good day, can’t believe it’s Thursday tomorrow, this weeks flown by. Have a good night all, sweet dreams xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Mrs SD - great knitting. My youngest daughter has started knitting - made hats as Christmas presents.
vulpix - I do that so I always can access the number.
I didn't get up so early today.
Chap came to collect all the disability equipment.
I couldn't face going to SA lunch club today.
I cleaned a folding foot stool to give to my friend's SA charity shop.
I went into town to give in a trolley of donations at the charity shop.
I emptied and sorted/cleaned the drawers of my upright freezer.
Then I ventured into the huge chest freezer which is stuffed so I am filling black sacks to go out in the bin.
J is coming round to pull the bin up the driveway slope on Thursday evening.
I did a bit of sorting in the office - going to take me ages to clear it out.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
