suzeesu2000 that horrible damp stuff not proper rain my late OH (an Islander) called it, as did my ma-in-law 'mizzling', and my two DDs have always called it that as it seems to seep into your bones at this time of the year.and seems never to cease

DD has just gone swimming and I'm just about to do my accounts for the last year. Counting up all my receipts and expences to see how I'm doing
So far this year I have only topped up my petrol and done a shop at Tescos last week for odds and ends and the tiny bit of stuff yesterday so I'm a lot less than Decembers totals thats for sure,. January so far a mere £94.45 which isn't too bad, as the petrol was £44.00
.
I shall make myself a large cup of coffee and get stuck in.
I do this every January as I keep a running monthly bill total throughout the year, and shift cash around to cover various stuff. I know Decembers will be large as I treated myself to a new laptop and phone as my old laptop was 14 years old and was getting very creaky (a bit like me
) and the phone was in need of replacing as it too was starting to have to be charged far too often and had a mind of its own

These two new treats will definitely seem me out thats for sure
I must admit the new laptop is very good and far quicker than the old one and the battery lasts a good deal longer as well. I keep the old one upstairs in my bedroom as I like to check the news when I wake in the morning while I have my first cuppa of the day
I've started a new pile of paperbacks to go next week to the Charity shop and have found a large bag of fridge magnets that can go as well, just taking up space and I reall don't use them anymore. I also have a spare chess set that can go as I have two for some reason. Surprising what you can do without and decluttering or finding a new home for something is a great hobby of mine at the moment
Keep warm and dry chums its going to be a very wet one again today

Do you know if not thought it ‘mizzle’ as a particularly regional word but my mum was born on the Surrey/Hants border and also spent time on the IoW and she described it as mizzle.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Afternoon all. Busy morning getting random things done. Not much decluttering other than the to do list in my head. Bought a pair of trousers in MrA, some school socks for DGD4, some underwear for me and cheap trainers for DGS4. Train tickets for a London visit at end of February and booked cattery for Mr Sox for April and July.
94 Decluttered DD after a two day visit along with various items and some Christmas gifts left by DS1
95 Train tickets bought - went to my lovely local station and they recommended tickets costing £10 less than I found on line
96 Cattery booked for two holidays this year - Sox will not be impressed but I am going with DS2 and family so no-one here to feed Sox. The cattery/kennels still had us on record for our dog Indy who died 10 years ago.
97 Popped in optician to check re eye test. I should have had one 6 months ago but their reminder system has had a glitch and I was missed. Appointment made.
98 National Trust Scotland membership renewed
There is a lot of stuff lying around so I plan a tidy session tomorrow.

Thursday has started dull & damp (forgot to mention it rained Wednesday evening) The forecast high is 10° (feeling 5° colder due to a gusting S wind) with a low of 6°C & expected to rain on & off all day. I will do a little cheerleading starting with posts dated the 12th before writing a mini menu plan followed by a shopping list.
Welcome aboard the EDT FrugalFalafel 👋 Lovely to meet you 😊 It sounds like you are an experienced declutterer already so will have no trouble decluttering as you go 😉 Divorce can be a stressful time but it appears from your post that you are ready & excited to start the next chapter of your life in a new house ☺️ as confirmed by This “Moving into the new place this week (finally!) so will have lots of to dos and projects and frogs to share as I get into making the house a home and getting my new routines sorted. Feel like it's the opportunity to get things set up in a way that works best for me and what my goals are, not what it 'should' be like by any external standards” 👏 Good luck in all your endeavours 🍀
_Dolly_Rocker_ I hope you can recover quickly from your hectic day at work 🤞
florianatwobob, This “Pooped into one of our remote offices” has started my afternoon with a huge laugh 😹 & then sent me off to a weird land of wondering if you would be allowed back in 🤣 - so sorry ………… 😔
suzeesu2000, good luck sorting the “inaccessible cupboard” 🍀 Apologies if someone has already suggested it but would it be possible to add roller feet to the cupboard? 🤔
jivjules1, sorry to hear that you are exhausted 😞 Hopefully you can have a relaxing weekend, catch up on sleep & rest before starting your week off 🤞Very well done on resisting the temptation to buy clothes both when you were out shopping & when you were online 👏 Great quote “consistency over intensity, right?!” - spot on 👏🥳
DundeeDoll, what a great start to your office decluttering 👏 Good luck for the rest of the decluttering 🍀
oceanspirit, love This “……however much work has been done on life improvements.” 🥹 which I would class as preemptive decluttering of potential stressful situations 😊 Good luck with your kitchen sort out & declutter 🍀
_Dolly_Rocker_ good luck with your kitchen blitz 🍀
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible 😊 See you later 👋

"good luck sorting the “inaccessible cupboard” 🍀 Apologies if someone has already suggested it but would it be possible to add roller feet to the cupboard?" @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, the inaccessible cupboard is REALLY inaccessible. Would have to move the big freezer and I can't do that sadly, good idea though.@London_1 I've sent you a message regarding something on the island I thought you and/or your daughter might be interested in. And yes, MusicMagpie do pick up here, I've used them loads and they are very quick, they use DPD at no charge to the seller which is brilliant. I've heard Missling too.All I've decluttered today is a stack of post - think postie was fed up and decided to stick all the junk mail in my letter box!Received a T-shirt bought on Vinted but size is all wrong so has gone straight back on, also sold one of yesterdays listings.Decided on the soup maker. @Liverpool_Ann. I'm not going to buy one. I cant justify either the cost or the cupboard space for something which is a "might be used" item Plus I do have a saucepan and a wand blender doings.have a good afternoon all, bit soggy again though.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Thank you for the care and support on this thread. I have okay times then sobbing times.
I woke at 4.30 and couldn't get back to sleep so was up at 5.
Wet here all day. I went out shopping - first time since Mr F passed - I was in bits coming home. He always said - hello sweetheart when I came in.
I got 7 cards through the inside porch door today - postie must have heard me sobbing.
Friends have written such lovely messages which start me off again.
I am better when sorting stuff but going through files in the office is taking such a time.
Mr F told me that if ever I needed the personal papers - they were in one file - not found it yet but I found what I think are copies of our wills. I now know which solicitor we used - it was 2002.
J is coming round to move my bin - I put another bag in it today and 2 bags in my neighbour's bin.
I was doing our main meal at lunchtime but have gone back to late afternoon to make the most of the daylight.

Thursday continued: DH & DSis headed off at 14:00 on the dot armed with a smallish shopping list. I have phoned the dentist & rearranged my hygienist appointment (it was same day as the funeral) but now two weeks later. I have a fresh drink, timer is set & I am ready to commence cheerleading mostly in the present tense but occasionally veering into the past tense to take account of being behind with the cheerleading ☹️ Btw I am wearing my new tracksuit bottoms which are very comfy & because they are longer in the leg my ankles are staying warm 🤭
Excellent physical & digital decluttering canvascamper 👏 Hope you enjoyed your day off & managed to do some yoga & generally relax 🤞
Florenceem, a busy Monday 👏 Relieved to hear that your appetite has finally made an appearance 🙂 I will keep my fingers crossed that the shop doesn’t let you down about the boots 🤞 Hopefully they will be true to their word especially as you purchased a couple of other items 🤞 I do hope the Ofsted visit at your middle daughter’s school went well 🙏 Good work with the decluttering 👏
ilovetea, the train is definitely moving fast - the two lady drivers obviously forgot to attend the speed awareness course that I booked for them 😂 Sorry to hear about the knee problems 😞 Good luck with the shredding 🍀 which is definitely decluttering 🙂
TC77, 😧 to having to spend so much time looking for your ‘tax stuff notebook” 😖 but great work once you found it 👏 Hopefully it is now in a safe place 🤞
florianatwobob, very droll 😅
purplevamp, re This “Well, the postman never turned up to collect my parcel. So I had to tart myself up just to go to the post office 😉 Absolutely killed my knees and hips as it's the first time I've left the house since before Christmas 😮 Anyway, got an email around 7.30pm saying they couldn't collect, no? really??!!! “ appalling service 😖 & I admire your very restrained post 😉👏
Last of the posts dated the 12th 😁
vulpix, everything crossed that your cold is starting its outward journey 🤞Meanwhile excellent decluttering of IT frogs 👏 Worthy of a medal 🏅 which is on its way accompanied by a medal 🏅for MrV for his DIY & also his consistent support 😊 Re This “I put everything on a to do list. Big things, little things, I forget otherwise. As quickly as something is crossed off there are more to add.” I am just wondering if the new additions are in a different colour 🤔 I do love a pretty list 🤭 I am with MrV re the 1910 American made safe drawers 😉 Looking forward to seeing a picture of the opticians cupboard 😊
Disappeared for a while to put all the shopping away 🙂 apart from the stuff that is relegated to the garage fridge/freezer. The weather is miserable so will wait until there is a break in the rain 🤞 DSis treated me to an indoor mini rose 🙂 Also as I am at the end of another page, I will post & have a break to watch Countdown (Forgot to mention that yesterday was “Organise your Home” day according to Colin Murray 😉 sadly passed me by 🤣
