Mojo back today after being absent for a few days. Tackled some of DD's room. One non recycling bag removed and tons of recyclables put out in the bins. I have a small suitcase for the charity shop that is now full. Dd has two pairs of shoes and I have donated 4 scarves to the charity collection in the hope someone in need of one will receive it.
I have put up a picture as well.

I feel your pain - that's what floored me at first and why I joined the thread. Having a safe space here makes so much difference mentally.oceandreamer said:I've been very slow making a start mostly because I couldn't decide what to try and do first. The whole house needs going through. I have one room that can't be used because there is so much stuff in there and I have to keep the curtains shut in case anyone sees in! Anyhow, I have been reading along and yesterday finally took the Christmas decorations down and made a start on the kitchen. I've emptied one small free standing unit and moved that out (yes into the awful room!) and today I'm going to go through the cookery books - being ruthless. I'm going to have to take baby steps or I know I will just give up.
In the house I started really small - making sure I had enough space on the dining room table to eat, a space in the kitchen where I could prepare food etc. I've gradually worked out from there but for me the important thing was finding a forever home for things that was logical and that I could actually get to. 🤣
It's fine assigning things to a space but if you can't get to it easily then things won't get put away.
It's a completely iterative process; putting 1 thing away leaves a bit of space where you can sort/decide about other bits. Don't get me wrong, I still have piles of things that I have to move around but literally piece by piece items are being reviewed and if possible redistributed out of the house, be that charity shop, other people or the bin. I do my best to focus on what bits are clearer or can be cleared very easily when needed rather than the mountain still to climb as I find it far too easy to become despondent.
So I'll finish this piece with a very heartfelt thank you to Mrs S_D for her cheerleading and everyone else who contributes to the thread. DxxAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade BudgetDECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN - 2023 🏅4*⭐️ : 2024 🏅💐2*⭐️ : 2025 ⭐⭐⭐🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 : 2026 🏅

Afternoon all. I went to hairdressers and had a trim as well as she had time. Stopped off at SM for plastics, tip for paper then charity shop. A couple of things have come in including socks, a warm top and trousers from Matalan sale for DGS4. Several things have already gone and I will chuck out most of the socks he has here as well. DGCs should be able to stay at DS2's now until Sunday night so I'll try and get on with frogs. I still have to do the school runs. I did buy two bedside lamps for bedroom 2 (part of my finishing off list for that room) - spent 15 minutes finding the correct bulbs as they were all muddled up and not attached to the correct labelled sections.
65/66 Two Christmas presents picked up by DGCs. (4 left which should go with DD who is staying 2 nights next week)
67 Cushion cover to CS - nice one but doesn't fit in now so washed and in CS bag
68/69 Two full CS bags dropped off
70 Bag of shredded paper to recycling at tip
71 Plastics to SM

Such sad news about Mrs F's husband, my thoughts are with the family at this time.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger can I rejoin this year please? My health was up and down last year and nothing really got decluttered apart from the odd one or two bits. I really need to get the boxes sorted out from our move 2½ years ago.
I've given myself a good talking to and have decided that it's a fresh start this year. I will hopefully be doing one box at a time but I can't say how frequently it will be.
Unfortunately my health again has taken a turn for the worse - very bad asthma attack over the last two months, my fault refused to go to the drs. Now on steroids inhaler so will start to see an improvement soon, then I'll be able to actually be able to resume my life again 👍

@QueenJess - Aw is there anything better than looking at a full bookshelf! I absolutely love it. Also it's a win win with the CS books because your helping charity and yourself.@Ms_Potato_Head - it's a great place to be isn't it.@oceandreamer - Small steps matter too. Just grab a bag or box and sort that one then leave it for another day. I think if we try to do too much it overwhelms us and we just give up, well that happens to me anyway.Debt Free - 4th June 202522

So I was supposed to be out to the CS and for lunch with my bestie today but that got cancelled. Just aswell because the dog walker ended up ill so couldn't walk the dogs.
We're not long in and I'm all wrapped up and about to have some soup to heat me up, I'll save my blast of the heating till later tonight.
Had a rummage through a toybox when I was in the kitchen earlier and managed to declutter 4 old tatty balls that the dogs have chewed to death! One of them had a light inside and it actually looked rusty inside. Also they chewed a plastic squeaky snowman apart this morning so that is also out!Debt Free - 4th June 202522 -
Lots done, progress made but definitely at the 'gets worse before it gets better' stage21

Could I please join in belatedly? I have started decluttering with a few papers I no longer need, but I need to focus and not let it drift. I am going through my kitchen cupboards for items I won't use and they can go to the local Foodbank. I sorted out spices and herbs last year and promised myself that I would only buy new when I needed something specific for a recipe - I've almost stuck to that, but more effort is required this year. I have books, CDs, DVDs and craft materials that need sorting out for possible disposal. I think I could achieve 2026 items of clutter this year. I look forward to reading your posts for inspiration and support.

I've done a lot since I last posted yesterday I took a big bag to the charity shop some old medicine to the chemist, back to college today so magazine and the medicine cups have gone
Some more items to upload on vinted started using ebay again, also 2 tin of ood soup in to the bin.
I don't know why I keep things just in case I've had some rapping paper to do some craft with but had it a year and it was still in the same place so that has gone into the bin.
Still deleting emails and I have watched a few things on the planner that I have deleted
I did some much on Tuesday that yesterday I really did ache so trying to do a bit at a time.
Stay safe everyone

Thursday: Rained in the early hours between 02:00 & 06:00 & has rained since then. Now overcast with a forecast high of 8°C(feeling 4° colder due to a SSE wind) & a low of 3°C & more rain expected from 14:00. I have only been up for 30 minutes 😔 but have just seen a fox wandering around (13:00) 🙂 Recycling wheelie bin not emptied 🙁 but as there is barely anything in there it is not really an issue. All set to start cheerleading from posts dated the 4th

suzeesu2000, I had to smile at This “Oh I am so looking forward to the restoration of sanity tomorrow.” 😄 Sorry to hear about DH’s health issues 😔 I take it there is still no indication of whether or not the stairlift can be repaired 😞 This “DH doesn’t do computers very well. …….., so he struggles bless him. Plus we are a team, so I am happy to do anything for him 🥰” 🥹🥹 Good luck with your To Do list 🍀 it sounds like you are really looking forward to getting stuck in ☺️
Excellent selling BlueJ94 👏 Always great to earn some monies from decluttering 😊
Broke off here to write a shopping list for DSis & DH’s usual sm visit. They headed off at 14:00 just as it started drizzling.

Great work taking down the Christmas decorations charlies_tribe 👏 I do hope the children helped out 🤞 You are definitely focused on clearing the loft - 2 more bags sorted & decluttered 👏 Fingers crossed it isn’t too much of a struggle to send the children to school 🤞 I was always keen to go back to school (especially after Christmas) mostly to see my friends but also because I enjoyed playing hockey 😉
Great work re the veg blanching tibawo 👏 Is there a possibility that your freezer is full now? Sorry to hear about your trip to the doctor’s - not a great start to 2026 😢 Fingers crossed you get a scan quickly & that if it is confirmed as an hernia, that you won’t have to wait too long for treatment 🙏🤞
EcoIntent, at least with a food shop you know that everything will be used up 😉 Well done on the sales 👏
