Friday is another warm day but far less cloudy than yesterday. The forecast high is 27°C, low of 18°C with a light WNW wind. DSis has done 2 loads of laundry which have dried outside. DH picked up his spectacles for when he wants a rest from his contacts. He treated himself to a turkey sandwich 😊 The recycling wheelie bin was emptied this morning - just a day late although the garden waste was not collected 😞 I dealt with today’s mail. DSis had ham & boiled new potatoes whilst DH & I had salmon fillets & boiled potatoes. Lemon cheesecake for afters for the 3 of us. Wudupa
1230 - 1234 Kitchen recycling, glass jar, plastic bottle, 2 magazines - recycled
1235 - 1236 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned
Excellent & eclectic decluttering florianatwobob 👏 Well done on switching energy providers 👏 that is a decent saving over the year ☺️
suzeesusu2000, sorry to hear that you “have been seriously ouchy” 😔 but great work putting up the blind & making up the flatpack furniture 👏 Also very sorry to hear about the fire at Headon Warren 😢 I do hope it was just due to the weather & not carelessness by a holidaymaker 🙏
Lovely to see you weenancy 👋 I had been hoping that your temperatures had cooled down 😞 I do hope you are managing to stay cool 🤞 Hopefully once the shots start working you will be able to move around better 🙏
Moorviews, fingers crossed that the plumber will be finished soon & that all the disruption will be over by the end of the month 🤞
surprisinglynice, nothing wrong with being excited about a Tip run especially when you have to book an appointment ☺️ Hope the new door & windows are fitted in a timely manner without too much disruption 🤞 A wise decision to block off a week & book a holiday for next year ☺️ Is there any chance of booking a few days holiday later this year? As it sounds like you really need a break 🥹
I will finish the cheerleading later. Sleep tight 😴

@Florenceem - I am so so sorry to hear that J died in this way, it is a most tragic loss of a young life. Your presence and prayers will be a great support at the moment. It is a complicated and traumatic bereavement as I sadly know from within my own family. Sending love from afar xx
I just want to mention, in case it is helpful to anyone reading, that there are organisations that understand and can offer support to people who are bereaved by suicide.17 -
Moorfields - sadly my bestie lost her son to suicide.

All of this is very harrowing for all those involved and for others on this site. Would it be worth looking into counselling @florenceem? Especially with the recent loss of Mr F as well?

I'm really sorry to hear florenceem. Sending hugs.
I've had a big pile of synthetic pants go into the bin as I can't get on with the material. I've replaced with cotton.
I've unfortunately had 3 packs of colouring pens come in, plus 2 packs of colouring pencils, plus some face, hand and foot masks and, more flower seeds a dab+ radio. A fair few packs of seeds went straight out the next day, and a couple of packs are Christmas presents.
I'm hoping the art supplies will be used as I keep meaning to get into drawing and writing.
The radio is a blessing, as I've missed having one, and there seems to be more frequent power cuts where I am at the moment.

Large pile of ironing done today. Got rid of a couple of DHs dark t shirts that had stubborn grease marks that wouldn't move whatever I tried. He doesn't know but won't miss them as his wardrobe is bursting at the seams with T shirts of every colour! Also threw a black t shirt of mine that I have been using for painting in. I have another old one. Folded blankets and put them away. Packed up decorating stuff for shed until son and family have been.packed away craft work.
I have cleared out so much stuff this year and made money from some of it but what has become apparent is that we don't have enough storage for the stuff we have we have got built in storage wherever we can fit it though!
One problem area is bedding as we have 5 beds for when people come I have slimmed that down as much as I can but in a 2 bed house it takes up a lot of room.
Cooking utensils are another area.i have been enjoying baking lately and would love to buy a few more bits but need to sort kitchen completely first.then it will be a question of do I have space or do I need another cupboard? That would n turn wouldean moving the toy box and I know one little 5 year old who wouldn't be too happy about that.
Then there's my craft stuff which takes up a lot of room.i have got rid of a lot though and the craft shed will contain it once I can get the stuff that I am storing for community club out of it.
And then there are DHs clothes! He has 2 wardrobes 4 big shelves and a big chest with 3 large drawers full He did mention having a sort out the other day so I will wait a bit and see how that goes.
I am trying to find another place to store my ironing board so that I can put a hanging rail up in the spare room for some of my clothes.
Lots of ideas going round in my head but the truth is we still have too much stuff!

Apologies for not posting for so long, especially as people gave me such a nice welcome back in January. Thank you for your kindness.
Various things happened between then and now, including a badly strained knee ligament, but sadly not a lot of decluttering. No excuse really, as many others on here cope much better with far greater challenges.
A bag of two dozen books put together to go to Oxfam bookshop, but not got there yet (it’s a half hour drive). Out went a bath mat which shed towelly fibres when washed. The skirt of one of two mattress protectors whose elastic had perished was cut off and the middle sewn onto a thin-in-the-middle fitted sheet, giving them both a new lease of life. Several other piles of books-to-go sorted but not gone yet (ziffit don’t want them, or will offer so little that it’s not worth packing them up). Carrier bagful of old newspapers recycled, and a couple of dozen magazines. Four tops into cs bag. Christmas jumper with neckline that doesn’t suit me in bag for cs to go in a couple of months’ time. Various other bits that I forget have gone, but overall the place still looks like Steptoe’s yard. I think it’ll take years to get it done, it’s just overwhelming. It makes me so annoyed because I used to have a really nicely well-ordered home, in fact my late XH used to complain that I was too houseproud.
