Had a couple of days of not doing very much as I was seriously ouchy.
Yesterday, under DHs fantastic instructions and tool handing, I put a new blind up on the front door. Felt like a dog with two tails, I’ve never put a blind up before. In the afternoon I put a flat pack cupboard together to go in the hall. I’m quite good at flat pack so long as I can sit. Managed to get it in place but didn’t do anything else until today.
Posted the old brown unit on Wightbay and was collected at dinner time today, thank you nice lady.
Got all the tools in the new cupboard plus all the meds/first aid things, pleased as that was the whole point of getting a cupboard!
Decluttered about a ton, well maybe not quite that much, of polystyrene packaging. There was quite a bit of cardboard too into recycling. Whilst sorting from drawers to cupboard Decluttered some packaging and a plug.
I would like to get all the medical and first aid items together in the airing cupboard So I am going to have to work out what storage will be best as the rectangular totes aren’t really working.
All the dressings gowns washed and line dried ready for winter.Loving everyones photos, so nice to see so please keep posting.
We have a nasty fire here at a beautiful place called Headon Warren. It’s low gorse and grasses mainly and it’s burning. They had to bring fire service over from the mainland - I think they said 6 tenders. It’s not easy to get to as it’s not flat land and very close to the cliff edge. The steps down to the beach have been closed as the fire service are putting hoses down to try to get sea water. Everything is so dry and they said this afternoon that it was a man made fire, I hope it wasn’t deliberate.
Some homes close by have been evacuated and a local camping site has offered tent accommodation straight away, we are so lucky in our little community. I feel for the animals who will all have very young offspring at this time of year.Have a good night all, stay safe and dream sweet dreams xx

@Florenceem - Sending you hugs and prayers for your loss.
@vulpix - Hope Mr. V's bruises are getting better.
Temperature here has been running between 28-30C for the last week. Expected to last another week. I've been reading, knitting, and visiting various doctor's appointments. Foot doctor gave me two shots in one foot today. Now I can barely move. Wasn't moving too fast any way.

Thursday is another warm but cloudy day with a high of 26°C, low of 16°C & a light WNW wind. Back to our usual Thursday - I wrote a shopping list for DH & DSis & they headed off at 13:50. It was not a large shop so I put everything away quickly. Whilst they were out I phoned my bank - paid my CC bill, transferred money from current a/c to savings a/c, checked my accounts & transactions & ordered a cheque book. Once the call was finished I updated my paper records. DSis had a tuna pasta bake for her dinner whilst DH & I had the lo steak + fried lo dauphinois potatoes & green beans. Wudupa

@EnergyShifter - an amazing achievement with the minimalist game! Well done 👏
@suzeesu2000 - I hope they get the fire under control. It is extremely worrying at the moment as even a bit of glass could start something off.
@weenancyinAmerica - I hope that the treatment for your foot will help once it takes effect. Quite unusually for the UK, we have been having those same kind of temperatures recently.
I have been putting things into cupboards that won’t be in the plumber’s path on their next visit. Another will be unloaded in the coming week. I look forward to the disruption being over, hopefully by the end of the month or thereabouts. I have been washing down walls in the hope that I will have the energy to repaint later. They actually just do look a lot better and brighter for the washing. They must have been grubbier than I thought.
Well done on the decluttering and take care all 😊

Palmers cocoa butter foot magic @BlueJ94 it can sometimes feel a bit greasy when you first put it on but persevere with the rubbing in!
I've booked a tip run for next week, I'm weirdly excited to get rid of stuff. The pile in the lounge is getting bigger so less space to clean.
I have a new front door being fitted next week and new windows the week after and then I'm back at work. Everything has to be fitted into a four week period and it's a bit stressy sometimes.
I have blocked off a whole week next July and am booking a holiday (God willing) it seems ridiculous to do it now but if I don't commit now, I will give in to someone and lose the week. Weekends are not cutting it for me at the minute, I'm so very tired.

Hi folks, nice to hear that you by hook or by crook are getting stuff done. It really helps to celebrate wins. 😍 It motivates me to crack on with stuff to hear all your achievements.
Someone has been charged for one of the moor fires near me.
Blue J, I have always been on my feet all day as a nurse and as a teaching assistant. I have always religiously used a pumice stone on my feet and some times a little bit of hand cream. My feet are the ONLY youthful looking bit of me.🤣 I must say I prefer a bath rather than a shower so perhaps that has helped. Nursing friends used to use Avon foot scrub years ago, they loved it.
Nice to see you wee nancy. Ouch for the injections. I had some in my ankle years ago and I can still remember them very well! I do hope yours helps. The first bruising Mr V did is starting to disperse, the second lot is still looking grim and is still painful. Today is his first day in new slippers so fingers crossed for no repeat performances.
Liverpool Anne, I would think your friend is very grateful for you and OH's help whilst she had a break. You lightened her load a little. I would like to award you a medal for being a stand up friend.😘
We were baby sitting yesterday. I didn't know it was nursery school holidays as well! I was only expecting a 9 month old, the almost 3 year old was a bonus. We were at a garden centre by 9am. Mr V had a full breakfast and the children and I went to a play area and little maze. We also collected interesting stones. I was able to do quite a lot of walking because I was pushing the buggy. Could we fold the blighter back down again in the car park? After an age of trying we just chucked it in the boot! lucky it fit. At that stage I would have been up for abandoning it.🤣 I must say if I had Grandma duties every day like some do I wouldn't be over weight or have trouble sleeping at night! That is term over now so meet ups in the school holidays won't be my watch!
As we drove up last night it was pleasing to see the front garden looking so good. We are forecast a little bit of rain over the weekend so I will make a start on transferring some plants from back to front garden. I MUST paint the wooden bunk beds this week the mattresses are being delivered next Friday.
Take care folks Vx

Also swapped energy provider today. Current FR is finishing the end of Aug and a quick quote on the MSE Energy Club site has found me a cheaper provider. Not a huge amount difference on a monthly basis but 100% green electricity and total cash saving will be the equivalent of about one big food shop by the end of the year, which is worth having.
I find this sort of thing such a good way to look at things. It's similar with the soft fruit i'm picking. I get about a small handful each of alpine strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. It doesn't seem worth it but I prep and freeze them. By the end of the season i'll have at least a kilo of each so that's about 2 kilos of jam from each which is definitely worth it. Well done on your savings; the more we do this, I guess the lower the savings each time IYSWIM.
@Brambling I sorted out a lot of bath towels. Luckily they didn't make it out of the house because the shower decided it was going to flood. 😱 I was rather grateful for the spare towels so I guess I'll be keeping a couple of them for Justin. 🤣 But I've realised I don't need to keep all, just 3 to surround the shower tray, which is an improvement on my thought processes.
@vulpix I'm so glad Mr V's bruising is starting to subside albeit only the first one. Hopefully the second one will follow suit soon. 🤞
This morning's pickings from the garden. I've a reasonable bag of green beans now and enough cherry tomatoes over the last few days for it to be worth putting the oven on to make balsamic roasted cherry toms. I think I'll be bottling at least some of the tomatoes so I don't take up too much freezer space. Yesterday and today I've been able to pick my favourite eating tomatoes, Noire de Crimea/ Black Krim. To me they are really worth all the effort and seem to have liked the hot weather we've had.
Well done all and let's hope the forecast rain over parts of the weekend actually materialises. 🤞🤞
Hugs to all who would like one and love to you all. Dxx
