1. Daily To Do List - written the night before
2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Saturday is a bright sunny day with a forecast high of 21°C (feeling 2° colder due to a  WNW wind) & a low of 13°C DH & I need to start packing for our trip - enough for 12 days but as little as possible as we are on the motorbike 😉 It is always a real challenge 😞

surprisinglynice, I like the idea that people who mark exam papers are part of a “secret organisation” 🙊 I had to look up ‘latch hooking’ as it is not something I ever learnt (I am in my 60’s). Good luck with your lessons 🍀

Managed to declutter most of the laundry on the bed in the ROD. 3 loads in the wash and out on the line. First wash was nearly dry when I put out the second one. The nearly dry things have gone back to the ROD to finish and will get put away tomorrow. That leaves the bed mostly clear so the OH can start organising the zillion things he needs to take with him on holiday in 12 days. I'll let him get on with it and sort my stuff the day or 2 before we go. It's Crete where we went in the autumn so basically it's just all the same stuff. Why he thinks he needs a suit there is beyond me!! And there may be a bag just for his shoes…..

Decluttered most the bandage on my cut finger (6 days!!) but still trying to not do things like type with it - difficult as I'm a touch typist. Can't get the one bit of bandage off that was superglued on - not sure how long that will last.

And in other news I've a plumber scheduled for 9 am tomorrow - yes on a Sunday! The only time he says he has available. Our kitchen sink has not been draining well, sometimes blocked completely and we've been pouring stuff down it, working it with a plunger, etc. It's fine for a bit then blocks again. I suspect that one of us (looking at you OH) have dropped something down the drain - OH likes to drop an extra long burning match in the egg boiling water and I've fished a few of those out of the sink in the past. Obviously there's a lot of muck in it so the plumber can sort that for us, hopefully. I know this is something that normal humans can easily sort but frankly I don't fancy bending myself like a pretzel and likely get a load of gloop raining down on me. Plumber has cheekily asked to be paid in cash when he comes - so possibly he's pretending it's a neighbourly visit rather than booked work. Then again it was all booked via his business site so not invisible.

Managed to get rid of a 110ltr lidded dustbin on our local free site. I only put it on last evening. Had lots of requests and nice lady collected at 0900 this morning. Then first load of washing got hung on line and have since brought that in, lovely and dry and put a second load out. That one will stay out overnight. Should be able to get the last and only lights wash done tomorrow and, hopefully, dried.

Found another new to me cousin. We share great great grandparents. Nearly finished paternal granny’s father’s line. Next line is paternal granny’s mums side. All I know of her is she was born in Dublin so will be interesting.

Decided that I am going to have to do the decorating myself. I’ve worked out that if I stand on the landing, no ladders will be necessary. All I need is an adjustable length handle on the paint roller. Yes, it will take me some time but I’m not working to any schedule. And look at the money it’s going to save me.

Various bits of recycling dispatched to Boots and textile recycling today. Socks are really coming to grief at the moment!

Some bits to charity - mostly bits that wouldn’t go to Ziffit.

Picked up some sourdough from one of the independent bakers in town. It’s more expensive than the supermarket sourdough but, apart from being delicious, it’s organic, freshly made on site daily and they try to use local farmers and millers for their flour. In short we get something delicious and keep at least two businesses and their employees going. Where I can I do try to shop local and I am fortunate that my town is well stocked with independent businesses.

Dropped into a local pop up art gallery today. All local artists and some of the mixed media work was really impressive. I feel the urge to give it a go.

Leaving card, baby card and baby pressie all picked up at the independent home and gift shop which has weathered economic ups and downs for at least 40 year. A huge achievement in itself when I think about it. I can best describe it as being like a very small outpost of John Lewis!

Two items listed and sold this afternoon on Vinted. That money will be donated to the loft fund. DSis has some bits for me to list that were retrieved from the charity bag this morning. I shall attempt to sort those listings tomorrow morning other before or after the garden has been tackled.

suzeesu2000 - please take care on the landing when decorating. J used a ladder for the cutting in at the ceiling and he is a tall lad. I have a pane of glass on the landing - very difficult to reach and clean.

Has anyone bought a helium balloon recently and would they mind telling me what they paid for it?

I am venturing into this and want to get an accurate representation of what people pay.

Just a standard balloon.

@suprisinglynice - A latchet hook class sounds great. When I was traveling back in the 80s and 90s, I would be staying in towns where I wouldn't even consider going out after dark (the police in one actually told everyone not to leave the hotel after dark). Most of the travel I was doing was for authors working on books. My father made me a wooden frame that would fit in my backpack so I could latchet hook or quilt depending on what I could find in the thrift shops. Hope your class enjoys it as much as I did.

Morning all.

I did a list last night of what I need to take with me to Church. I have bags of stamps for P. A Tupperware pot for bestie. A polo shirt for P. A new SA shirt for K.

I was going to wear formal uniform today but my tights had a hole. I couldn't find another pair - I found black stockings..Probably bagged up in the old office along with my suspender belt.

I am going to look in the charity shop - not hopeful that the knitting pattern for a wip is still there. If not I will have to buy one. I have found other wips but the patterns aren't with them. I want 2026 to be - a finish all knitting/crochet wips.

Bestie will collect me soon.
