Good evening chums ,just had a lovely spag bol my DD made for dinner tonight, and I'm full to bursting I think :)
Yesterday at the U3A games afternoon we had a lady come in and she taught myself and my crib partner RummiKub which we really enjoyed as a bit of a change
Really nice to chat to, her and her OH volunteer to help to run the IoW Bus Museum in Ryde, we had a great chinwag on the bus back to Ryde then DD picked me up from the esplanade to save me waiting for the onward bus to Elmfield.
Today I started knitting the other side of the cushion cover for my eldest DD and want to get it done before we go to the mainland a week this Friday for our spring visit to Kent
DGD's birthday today so decluttered some cash to her so she can treat herself.
Tomorrow is stitch & b**tch morning in Ryde and I aleways enjoy that as we all like a good chinwag with our cuppas
Thursday I'm off to U3A monthly meeting and apparently the speaker s talk is 'How we are all doomed '
I'm hoping its about Dads Army :)
I managed to pick up a really nice jumper in Peacocks in Newport yesterday as its my eldest DDs ma-in-laws birthday next month so I'll wrap it and do her card then DD can give it to her next month. They had some lovely pastel spring stuff in there.
Postage is so unreliable, and I know if DDs got it ,Margaret will receive it safely, so another parcel to take with us when we go next week :)
The sun managed to shine slightly today, but its not been cold at all, we have some double headed daffs come out in the garden that we planted in the autumn and they are really lovely I think I may buy some more this autumn as they are so pretty.
The dogs are still not keen on going in the garden at the moment as the grass is still quite muddy but hopefully a few dry days and we will be able to get it mowed. The little westie doesn't like wet grass on his tummy He's only a short little chap but has an aversion to wet grass yet adores running into the sea down ay Appley Beach
The first pick up of the garden waste collection bin came this morning, and luckily our bin was about half full so the next collection won't be for another four weeks when it should be a bit fuller(with grass cuttings hopefully)
Right time to get a wriggle on as I want to get a bit more done on the cushion cover
Take care chums and stay safe

I do like a game of Rummikub, we used to play with my nephews when they were little and still do now both are in their 30s it just gets more competitive now 😁
No decluttering today as I had a meeting with SW and elderly friend at the care home, it seems it's not her decision to go into permanent care it's theirs as she is not self funding. When she was in hospital they were pressuring her to go into permanent care, the six week assessment was a compromise and now it has done what they wanted they are dithering. She did say she thought it would still turn out that way but she needed to speak to the care home, write report and have it signed off. The cat is still going to CP Thursday so hopefully as I was told she ticks enough of the criteria from the local authorities list it will go as planned. I'll continue making lists and sorting stuff but won't get rid of anything just yet!
My new towels were delivered today a couple each of hand, bath and bath sheets so I've washed a set tonight and will rehomed my old ones to the vet. They are so thick and heavy they have made me realised how old and thin mine had gotten.

@daisy_1571 think it was you who suggested making a note where things go which is such an excellent idea.
Had a van arrive with furniture and boxes. Love the furniture including a 2 drawer old filing cabinet - as dd1 said it looks as if it could survive a bomb blast , checked and made by vickers the defence company. The idea is to get rid of files and folders on shelves and thin then out and use the filing cabinet - must the only person these days excited by the idea of filing physical papers and being able to find them.
Also an edwardian wardrobe and linen press but need to organise and then get rid of other furniture but also have boxes which need sorting and mostly things i don't want/ need I think @Green_hopeful mentioned about people really needing things and I brought back bedding which the local charity at my dad's couldn't take but near me there's a hubbfor refugees and people facing homelessness. All laundered and neatly folded so hopefully can be picked up/ dropped off.
Will be a May onwards project i think. Lovely removal people.

@TC77 my dad worked at Vickers as an industrial librarian in the late 1950s 😊
I met my BF for coffee & gossip today so haven't done the binshed 🤭 but I only have an EMT appt at 4:20pm tomorrow so plenty of time to attack it. I will take some books and a jigsaw to the WRVS shop / bookshelves when I'm at the hospital.

DH went out on the motorbike to test it & fill up with petrol (which had gone up another 4p per litre) + do a bit of shopping. Another day of knitting & watching TV. Dinner was individual shop bought pies, mash & baked beans. Wudupa.
Rained just before midnight & for the next 4 hours with a temperature of 10°C feeling 7° colder due to a brisk SSW wind.

@_Dolly_Rocker_- love the gorgeous dog photos 😍
@Florenceem - your kitchen is looking absolutely lovely! Sending hugs for those moments when the sadness hits hard 🤗
I have another sack for confidential waste paper on the go and half filled it. We still have far too much paper but some family and legal issues over the years make me nervous to get rid. One of Mr MV’s relatives loves to throw weird and groundless accusations around every now and again. It’s just a way of getting attention and making us jump but extremely unpleasant all the same as they fabricate things and try to involve solicitors. Obviously we have never done anything wrong but it is like we have to keep proving that. Maybe we should just tell them to push off and refuse to play their game anymore!
Used up a few toiletries and threw some out as they had gone off. Emptied the bottles, rinsed and recycled. I’m now trying not to be so stingy in my usage so that I can get things used before they go off.
Emptied, cleaned and tidied the cupboard under the stairs. Rearranged the shelves to make storage more accessible.
Took up the hem on a small curtain.
My emails are out of control and are in the thousands. It is like they breed somewhere in the account where I can’t see them! Most days I delete nearly all that come in so I don’t understand how it has got so bad. I deleted a few hundred yesterday and it has barely made a dent.
I’m in the process of washing the winter throws and cushion covers and storing them away. It is so lovely that Spring is finally here!
Hope everyone has a good day with some sunshine 🌞18 -
I went to Lent group last night. The muffins were well received.
I was tearful at bedtime - sometimes it is hard to believe that Mr F is no longer here with me.
Deluttered yesterday - calendar x 3, cardboard, pack of acrylic paints, OHP film pad, paper embroidery book, wrapping paper x 4, pack of holographic card, brown paper, glass cabinet, narrow bookcase, wide bookcase, wipes, empty sweets box, brown paper, empty food bags container, packs of card and lots of dust bunnies.

TC77 I used to have a filing cabinet that I was given years ago and when we moved here 18 months ago I sadly gave it away .Boy do I miss it.
It was so useful for keeping track of essential letters and documents. I have a couple of box files now but they are nowhere near as good as my old filing cabinet
I keep a lookout in the BHF shop in Newport when I go there and I am hoping I may find a small one for my bedroom as its so much easier when you have everything in one place.
I'm just off to Stitch & Bi**ch at Ryde shortly, so much coffee and chat will be on the menu this morning, especially with what's happening in the Middle East.
There are about a bout 10-12 of us on a Wednesday morning, and the subjects we cover whilst stitching and knitting is very wide ranging from long ago boyfriends from our youth, to daft things we have all done in our lives, and also to the conflict going on at the moment. We do all have a great time though and being midweek it makes a nice break for us all.
Ryde High Street is a great place for a trawl around the CS as there must be at least 10 of them there.
The Friends of the Animals is a good one for crafty bits, also the Sally Army one as well, so I will check that out this morning as my DD is into craft stuff.
I will also be on the hunt for a Rummikub set I know I can buy one on the Bay of E or the River of Amaz but I do like to try to recycle stuff and help the CS out first if I can :)
The sun is shining and I've put a wash on and DD will hang it out for me while I'm out
Have a good day everyone, I hope the sun is shining down on you, where ever you are

Morning all. Hugs @Florenceem - it is hard sometimes as memories hit you in waves usually when least expected. DH has been gone 7 plus years now but not sure it has really sunk in. Visiting sister in law next week - will be strange to see her in her new flat and without my brother. She has decluttered with a vengeance to fit in there but has kept some of their nicest things.
I am off to do yet more minutes - my absolutely not favourite thing. Yesterday was an IT disaster as the BigA had done another one of their numerous upgrades and my emails would not sync on any devices. I had things to send so very frustrating. It finally resolved itself about 9pm. DGD3 is going to school which is good - it is a struggle and I am helping by taking her in later than usual as arranged with school. Can drop her off on the way to my meeting close by.

Tadaa, I had a rush of blood to the head and sewed the curtains before I went to craft club yesterday. It took an hour, minutes for one curtain and the rest of the time for the other one. The tape top was for some reason just not wanting to sit right.Sewing machine put away, curtains up. The curtains are level, the window bottom isn't. They look ok and it is warmer in the room with them. The curtains were kindly given to me and used to be in the front bedroom. The long curtains that were up across the bay on a pole were put up on the front door pole as they are a bit smarter than what was there. The font door curtains will go in a drawer. I have half an idea of a future project with them. The empty pole is just staying where it is for now.
I have a lot on today. I am doing a deep clean of the bathroom first. Dust still settling from when the builder drilled the hole through the wall for the new toilet. Two bedrooms to be cleaned and beds made up. Already got the bedding in the wash. We have been playing musical beds whilst our bedroom has been out of action. This afternoon is a good clean downstairs whilst lovely cleaning lady finishes off the painting in our room. We have made a good team with the decorating. This evening will be putting our furniture back in our bedroom. The headboard is already in. Not quite convinced about the contrast on the dark green wall. I had bought the grey paint before the green. Time will tell if it remains.
Threw out some scissors with a cracked plastic handle that pinch your hand every time you try to use them.
I feel like I want to go through all the drawers with linens in. Next week when things are not so busy.
Better crack on Vx
