@floss your dad's job sounds really interesting.@London_1 and Mrs SD good to hear about others fond of a filing cabinet. I used to have a 4 drawer one until about 20 years ago and this is just 2.

Unwrapped lots of glassware, offering some to my niece and then cs but broke one this morning and some paper out, also unsubscribed and another 500+ emails deleted the other day which I forgot. Have bag of low cut socks (forgotten what you call them) to give dd1 as she will wear them over her compression tights in trainers for work

Dd1 starts the week she and b/f take big and little cat when I go away. Mylo the big cat was waking them.at 3.and 4 ( they have to be indoor there but will get lots of attention) so trying to see if there is an equivalent of night nurse to keep him calm at night as she'll have long shifts which she's had a break from.

Welcome ideas on helping cats settle in addition to plug in felaway to declutter cat and dd1 stress.

IImpressed by all the cleaning and decluttering taking place and those sensible enough to have rest or take time in the tlc carriage.

Morning all - nothing much to report in but the good news is electrician is coming this morning. DS2 is available to let him in while I do school runs. It was fairly nice yesterday but there was a cold wind. Washing did dry enough to do 10 minute tumble and ready to put away. All washing has been sorted and homed this morning. Meeting was decluttered and I just need to tidy up and finish off minutes.

I hope to do clearing and moving stuff around today ready for plasterer on Monday - he is coming to collect keys as I will be away from Sunday to Weds. I need to go and find a carpet for bedroom 3 - I have a nice local place which will no doubt have a suitable offcut as it is a small room. I bought my bed from there as well so I might look at single ottoman from there as I am really pleased with my bed. Last night's PJs are going in bin as most of front waistband is detached and fabric is rotting! I have several new pairs so no need to keep these going.

I seem to have a lot of plans but need to get on with doing things. I need to move things between cupboard in hall and garage and no doubt Mr Sox will get under my feet and keep trying to get locked in one or the other. Right time to get dressed.

TC77 we like the pet remedy spray. It smells of valerian which is a bit strange but it works well with my highly strung bengal.

2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

@TC77 I think it probably was - as a family we had the work cast-off encyclopedia sets when they were replaced! Dad retired in 1988 and died a few years later (35 years tomorrow) and I don't think his job exists in many organisations nowadays as so much information is online rather than in books, periodicals etc. He started life in Durham public libraries and met Mum at Newcastle Library School.

I'm contemplating de cluttering one of my jobs. I love the children that I work with but am struggling with the declining atmosphere. I tend to not get involved in workplace drama but it seems that there is more of it and it is spilling over into my area. My OH is very supportive of me looking for another job, but I just don't know what I want to do, if I did leave. I definitely need a job that is not full of people 🤣

Small amounts going out, lots more to do.

@floss , I'm sorry that's such a short retirement for your father, I hope you take time for yourself and happy memories tonorrow.

Years ago I worked for a local council and we had a technicial library - e.g.building materials, legal and architecture etc and on some projects I spent time with the librarian who was so knowledgeable and really enjoyed her job and I would think Vickers was much more well resourced and such a time of industrial change and activity

Busy day here again.

I still felt tired when I got up - watch said that I had 8 hours sleep but it was disturbed by bathroom visits and having to go into the garage for a freezer pad for pain.

I asked a friend about my industrial sewing machine - she has one. Then I rang a sewing machine engineer - he has broken his wrist so out of action for 6 weeks. He did give me some tips about my machine - thread keeps breaking - I did know the tips - if it is timing - I can't fix that - well I can have a go with the help of YT videos.

I contacted a furniture place about the 4 chairs that I am struggling to rehome - they sell at low cost to families in need. They will collect the chairs on Wednesday.

I checked the petty cash receipts and dropped them off at SA along with Mr F's cap. I needed to pop to As.. for milk and a pack of rolls. Amazing how many buckets of flowers they had ready for Mothering Sunday. Another card arrived for me today.

My bestie popped by and nearly took the bags that I had ready in the porch for my daughter. I gave bestie the correct donations bag. Bestie brought me two lovely pictures and 2 new multi aperture frames. I am going to do a frame of Mr F's photos.

Daughter called by for 2 heavy bags of stuff for the art cupboard at her school. She will pick up the carpet offcuts when J is with her.

Bed shop phoned - my headboard has arrived - they are delivering when the shop is shut tonight. I have phoned builder J about fixing it - he is coming tomorrow afternoon.

Not much to add, but decluttered my 86 year old dad back home 😁. He came down for a couple of days, and my God, he was hard work 😂 but it was great to see him.

Anyway, only one thing has left the house in the last few days - an old fridge shelf sold on ebay. Seems you can sell anything really.

Goodness me but it’s been a proper winters day today, very windy and some showers too. That put the kibosh on hanging the washing on the lines. Took til late afternoon for all the whites and lights to be dry so then loaded the two airers with darks. Will start the ironing tomorrow, work through gently and it will eventually all be done.
Think I mentioned I was debating buying a small chest freezer. Discussed with DH today and I have bought one. It had a reduction which covered the delivery charge and will be here, hopefully, on Monday.
Photographed some more clothing and posted on Vinted this morning, all have been favourited, just want people to buy them!
Had a few bits come in today to restock some areas of pantry shelves which have been used. Checked a few more for BBE dates to make sure I’m doing okay, I am.
Dinner was tuna salad & jacket potato - felt the need for some fresh foods. DH had a curry from freezer.
