    daisy_1571 - that is such a lovely photo of cute cats.

    I have put on 2 lbs so my bmi is 22.3. I think I will need to buy a pair of size 12 casual uniform trousers as my size 10 are getting snug.

    The syrup loaf cake that I made on Saturday is now sticky and yummy. Definitely will make it again.

    I got my new glasses. I hadn't realised that I got my last new pairs 2 years ago. I hadn't worn the new ones as I didn't like them when I got home. So now I have 6 pairs of glasses. I found the ones I got 2 years ago and like them now. I think because I was wearing glasses from 3 years ago - the ones I collected today seem too strong for me. So I am going to wear the glasses I got 2 years ago for a while and see if that helps me wear the ones I got today.

    I sewed the ends of the knitted scarves - I have now made 12 scarves.

    Decluttered - 2 pairs of glasses, 2 glasses cases, thread, yarn, a plate, leaflet, debit card, paper carrier bag, nightie, label, top and stuffing.

    Had a rough start to the day, the pump has gone on my washing machine which I found out when it wouldn't drain halfway through the wash. Cue a flooded utility room, tons of sopping wet towels and the stuff in the machine to farm out to wash and get back. Engineer is coming on Friday.

    Delivered a lot to the charity shop today including 56 books. I still have 2 bags of clothes to take, but donations are limited at the minute.

    Had to postpone my back surgery due to health problems elsewhere. But I have used the time at home to get rid of two boxes of books to the library, plus a lot of paper bags to use at the book sale. It turns out it was a good thing I have been home. I need to move one roommate out or something as he fell yesterday and we had to call the paramedics to help him up. My other roommate asked what the number for the paramedics was! I need to add that to her instruction sheet I guess. Oh my, I'm not sure what I am going to do. All suggestions on how to ease the pain in the lower back and make life easier would be appreciated. We are getting ready for the edge of Hurricane Trudy to come through over the next couple of days. We are hoping this will bring the temperatures down a bit and water the plants at the same time. The last rain we had wasn't enough to do anything.

    Some good progress being made all round! Condolences to those who’ve lost a dear one. Thoughts and prayers with those whose loved ones or themselves are poorly.

    Lovely pictures of cats, and of handicrafts, and of wide-open spaces where once was clutter.

    I can’t remember when I last posted so am just rushing straight in. Since wherever I start I should have started somewhere else, I am now back to clearing in the kitchen and utility room, as I need to replace my washing machine which broke a few years ago. I’ve been getting by with a combination of launderette, hand washing, and a little portable twin-tub, but with winter coming on I feel the need for a proper machine.

    So, in the utility room, (before photo attached)

    IMG_0795.jpeg IMG_0796.jpeg

    I started with the three little shelves, each of which took me two hours with climbing up and down for the things, sorting and cleaning and disposing of appropriately. I am slower than I’d like, and two hours is about all I can do in a day.

    Out went:

    one old torch and the batteries which had leaked in it;

    6 various insecticides (not actually out of the house yet but in the garage as they have to go to a special tip);

    2 cardboard boxes which used to hold seed packets and about three dozen old (about 25 years) packets of seeds, most of which seem to have come from my late Dmum’s as many were free with magazines;

    1 pair of perished plastic car-door-edge guards (were free with late Ddad’s motoring magazine);

    3 unopened packs of ground pegs for holding flimsy stuff to the earth (eBay or CS);

    tub which once held fish food and was repurposed for storage (so old the plastic lid crumbled);

    coffee jar used for storage recycled;

    plastic basket with broken handle (hooray! It’s one of a set, the others are in the garage waiting for it to turn up before they go to the CS, now they can go without their broken chum);

    4 small cardboard boxes and 2 of Justin’s paper carrier bags were recycled;

    mushroom punnet and several broken plant support sticks;

    OOD dishwasher cleaner;

    very old microwave cooking dish (already repurposed once) and an old egg poacher without a lid or cups.

    and lots of dust and cobwebs.

    From the rest of the house have gone a bin-bag of shredded paper (HH waste), 2 boxes of packaging to a friend’s son who sells on eBay, and an indoor-outdoor temperature gauge set (small electronic waste).

    When I’ve finished the utility room I’ll post an after pic.
