Saturday is a bright chilly day with a high of 15°C, low of 7°C & a chilly N wind making it feel 1° cooler. DH got home 11:15 having had a full English breakfast, toast & coffee.
Will now have a bash at catching up with the cheerleading, starting with posts dated Thursday the 15th:
dND, very pleased to hear that the scaffolders finally put in an appearance & just in time for the solar panel people to start work on Friday 👏 Jewel was obviously trying hard to keep you awake so that you wouldn’t miss the scaffolders 😉 I do hope she let you have your siesta in peace 🤞What a good idea to use shop bought apples as ripeners & then give them a 2nd life as an ingredient for chutney 👏 I am available for taste testing 🙊 I think seeing red squirrels as a member of the Tufty club must have been quite exciting ☺️
QueenJess, watching the Space Maker videos sounds far less stressful than watching minimalism decluttering videos 😨 You have done & are still doing an amazing job with your decluttering/using up 👏 Congratulations on passing the 1,000 mark on using up 🥳 a Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 😊
Excellent decluttering Happy_Kitties especially DD’s clothes 👏 Good luck making up the shoe boxes 🍀
Florenceem, I love Shirley, she wouldn’t go amiss in the Frozen film franchise ☺️ What a shame that M’s costume is not as advertised 😞 a good job that you are such a talented seamstress 🥹
EnergyShifter, you might not have sprung into action but you were certainly busy 👏 Always nice when someone else does the cooking ☺️ so well done to your DS 👏
suzeesu2000, sounds like you are doing a great job emptying out the kitchen 👏 I do hope you & DH are taking photos as you go along 😉 then you can compare size perceptions as the work is being done. Hmm, 4 kettles 🤔 I am just wondering if they are different types e.g. electric or hob or maybe they are different colours to fit in with a specific kitchen decor 🧐 Great news that you are able to store the packed crates safely whilst the work is ongoing 👏
oceanspirit, I am pleased to hear that you are recovering ☺️ Please remember to get plenty of rest 🙏 Great work getting admin tasks done 👏
Florenceem, that is a lot of gnomes 😉 but they are so beautiful & I imagine they raise a lot of money for the SA 😊 I hope your dinner wasn’t too late 🤞
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 especially the parcel of papers & photos to your mum’s friend’s daughter 🥹 Fingers crossed that your DB finds time to collect the printers & take them to the Tip 🤞Hopefully the space created will be enough for the last items from your parents house 🙏
vulpix, from butter boxes to butter fingers 🙊 Sorry 😔 Definitely sounds like crafting is safer than DIY 😉 I am keeping my fingers crossed that you find the embroidered bell pull 🤞 as I would love to see a photo 🙏 Hopefully DD1’s new kitchen will be completed soon, although it must be nice that she is visit so often 🥹
I have not quite caught up with posts dated the 15th but am flagging now, so will post this & come back later 👋 I hope everyone is having as good a day as possible 😊

i took 10 items of my clothing to the charity shop. I just flicked through my wardrobe looking for things that didn’t make me feel good and popped them in a bag. I found 5 cardigans that are the same cardigan in different colours i used to wear at work. I am not quite ready to let go of them yet but it reminded me not to buy any more the same.
I feel like i need some new clothes as mine are looking too shabby to wear outside of the house. I managed to find a winter coat at the charity shop so thats one item in against the 10 removed.
I don’t get lots of emails but i noticed there are quite a few that i delete without opening so i am trying to remember to unsubscribe rather than just deleting repeatedly.
Its just me and a grown up stepson at home for a few days so breakfast lunch and dinner from existing stocks today but tomorrow i will get a chicken so we can have roast chicken for Sunday dinner. He used to really like a Sunday roast but we got out of the habit so will start again. I can always freeze the cooked chicken if we don’t eat it in a couple of days. I like to have cooked chicken in the freezer because it is so handy to have ready for midweek meals.

My daughter and granddaughter called here with my Sainsbobs shopping. They have taken the basket of made items. They had been to the cinema and saw a trailer for Wicker and said I can't go to see it as too raunchy.😒
I like Olivia Coleman so I am going.
I have a syrup loaf in the oven.
I got Sylvester finished.
15 -
Oh my, Sylvester is adorable @Florenceem
Thank you for good wishes re DHs fall in kitchen. I sent him to the shop this morning for money and a box of chocs for my DF, he fell in the shop. He’s been very wobbly on his pins today, said they felt as though there was no strength in them at all. My poor love.
All kitchen cupboards and drawers are now empty except the crockery one which I can do tomorrow. . 95% is all packed and upstairs.DF got us some KFC for the freezer as we can’t cook properly for 2 weeks so that’s been bagged and into freezer.
Have 4 Vinted items waiting to be wrapped and posted.
Had 2 donations come in for the IOW food hamper I’m putting together for the charity. Given myself until 01st November to get hampers made. I am also making a beauty hamper. Then that will all be gone, there is quite the pile of it. We think kitchen will be done by the 1st too as they quoted 10 days.
Hope everyone has enjoyed their day. Have a good night, sweet dreams xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Sorry to hear about your husband's falls @suzeesu2000 💐
Lovely and sunny here. I had a productive day - I set myself a challenge to do 90 mins flat out decluttering / tidying this morning then another 90 mins this afternoon (afternoon got extended as I started to do stuff in the garden too). I feel good about it as I've been neglecting the house recently in favour of the garden, and it was starting to look pretty untidy and unloved. I took before and after photos to motivate myself and there was quite a transformation in a very short time ☀️
Tidying:
Living room including hoovering rug.
Kitchen / Dining Room
Decking area
Decluttering:
4 x ancient placemats
Plant pot
blender given by neighbour - will pass on as I won't use
Jug
Fruit bowl
2 x dead solar powered lights
frying pan
Rotary airer
Large broken plant pot
Tasks:
sanded and oiled a chopping board & hob cover/chopping board (came up lovely)
fairy lights repositioned

Saturday continued: it rained late afternoon just enough to get the ground wet. 1790 Kitchen detritus - binned

was completely shocked to receive a huge parcel of amazing items from the lovely @vulpix. Every single thing will be used and much appreciated. I will confess to pinching two hats and scarves from it for my final shoeboxes (2 left to do) and a blanket for one of the Bags of Joy. The feedback always received from the recipients of a shoebox is why would someone who doesn’t know them, think about them, and put thought into what they need. It’s the little things that make such a big impact
I was particularly after Bags of Joy labels to support the care home my mum was in when she died. One label i selected was for a blind lady who wanted textured items, a beautiful pink blanket suited the request perfectly. Hope that is okay Vulpix, but thank you so much, stunning items, every single one will be much appreciated and they are going to the hub next weekend as they are gearing up ready for the mass production of shoeboxes next month.
I’ve started work on my Bags of Joy, so will be updating neutral items soon.
General itemsManaged to get a lot of empty tablet packets into the specific recycling collection point yesterday
Empty medicine bottles back to B**ts x 5
Items sold on V and the Bay of E x 5
More paperwork destroyed, have more to do but doing it bit by bit
Storage bag that had broken (probably bec I had filled it with a lot of neutral items that were heavy-think at least 30 hot water bottles!) -binned
380 + 13 =393

2 bags of clothes dropped off at the charity shops. Different items for different shops.
Cracked plate in the bin.
Mrs SD, when I find the bell pull I will do a photo. It will turn up eventually. Not that I have so much stuff it is lost. It's lost cos I have a bad memory! I am ashamed of the mess I have made of the sitting room carpet. I laid it, not too well, it was in the bedroom in the room above so not too difficult. The weight of it was the difficult bit. The carpet is not to my taste, it's office carpet. Not only does it now have black rectangles on it from my failed juggling of the piece of wood for the house number, I knocked a tin of paint over when I was painting the bunk beds. Both accidents no where near the cloths I had down! When we have the new fire in and the connecting doors to the dining room I will get rid of the carpet. I will put the rug down that I had before. The ugly carpet makes it much warmer though. No new flooring for us for a long time. I want all the building work done first.
Against all odds the new number plaque is on the front wall.Pleasingly used screws for the numbers and the wall from my odd screw ice cream tub. Mr V not scoffing at my collection now!🤣 They could have been in the box 40 years waiting to be used.
I do hope DH is feeling less wobbly Suzeesu.
Happy Kitties, I am happy that my makes are useful.❤️ That isn't the sum of the years work. 🤣 I have given a lot of makes away too. I haven't made anything for a few days now. I feel lost without something on the go in the evenings. The adult hats, blankets and some of the kids stuff are my work. Anything with buttons and a lot of kids stripe hats are my Mum's work. She is amazing. Registered blind and crippled with arthritis. She can only do a few rows a day. She can't see enough or move enough to do any of the other crafts she used to do sadly. Are the shoe boxes you do for adults? I can do some hat and scarf sets for next year,or any requests for stuff needed. ❤️ for all your effort and charity works.xx
Stunning weather today. The intention is to clear up my hostas after the hard frost the other night. The reality is I am itching to start a quilt with left overs from DGS's quilt. I have also found a use for some fabric I bought last year. Just the right size for a funky table cloth. Needs hemming.
