Builder arrived - he said - I only have a bit of sanding to do - suggested aiming it into the wardrobe in the bedroom. I said - if any sticks to new paint - I won't be happy, So he worked out in the back garden which was so good as he made a lot of mess - had to plane off on the door bottoms. I thought - good job - my J can't see the mess in the garden he tidied up for his nan.
R came to do the tip run - could only get the office chair + base + bag of carpet and desk drawers in his car. So I still have a chest of drawers and two night tables on my drive. R said - if no one takes them - which they won't now it has rained - he will break them up for another tip run next week.
Builder had cleared up in back garden but needed to take doors outside again so he used the front area - said the sawdust would blow away. He fitted one set of doors and will be back on Tuesday.
I got the quote for laminate and accepted it.
Email came with quote for blinds - one bedroom blind had not been included - I phoned - must have been lunch time and sent an email. I will accept the prices for the blinds.
I have had a day indoors - by the time builder went - it was raining and I was past going out. Builder hoovered in bedroom but I said - I will do the stairs.
R put a new bulb in cloakroom light for me.
My Potted Shrimp cloakroom - one area finished out of 10!

Friday is a brighter day but still overcast with a forecast high of 11°C (feeling 6° colder due to strong SW wind) & a low of 5°C DH got the call from his sister just before 11:30 & has headed off to pick up her & BiL to drive them home. It is raining 13:00. Still no sign of the recycling chaps 😖 DH just phoned 13:40, is at his sister’s house & is having a coffee & a chat before coming home. I am making great progress with my paperwork, including reading magazines & newspapers 🙂 Also phoned bank to pay CC bill & check on accounts. DH phoned 15:30 to say he was on his way home & got back 16:50 due to heavy traffic & popping into sm. My accounts are sorted & all that I have left from my paperwork file is a single magazine to read. I have been watching the Olympics but selectively - speed skating, Women’s SkiMo, Men’s Aerials, Women’s Ski Cross, Men’s Freeski Halfpipe & the 15km Biathlon. I have studiously avoided watching the Ice Hockey & Curling 😂 Dinner was our standard Friday fare - quiche & boiled new potatoes for DSis, oven baked fish (wild cod), boiled new potatoes & peas for DH & me. It has rained on & off all afternoon 😞 Wudupa

Florenceem- the colour looks lovely in the cloakroom. I’m glad you got your builder to do the planing and sanding in the garden as it is such messy work.
Vulpix- it is lovely to hear how you have been cracking on so well with your new house.
Still shuffling china here. Nothing has actually left the building yet as Mr MV has got involved. He would like to keep some that I would happily let go and vice versa. There is some that we agree on but I need to get it wrapped up and out before minds are changed! I was hoping to get the garden waste bin filled but the weather has been too wet to do anything. I wanted to cut down and treat some bramble roots in the flower beds but we don’t get two dry days together! Hopefully I will by the time of the next collection. I’m not sure if I want to sign up for it again this year or not. I sorted through the paper pile in the hall and most of it ended up in the recycling bin. We have hardly anything in our general waste bin as our council is very good for recycling. I donated some craft materials to a community project. I went shopping and feel like we have far too much food again as I still haven’t got the hang of shopping for two after having a family of hungry adults to feed for so many years.
Wishing everyone a good weekend and hugs for anyone who needs them 🤗ETA I lost a relative to carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas boiler. We have CO monitors upstairs and downstairs. Also, in the rooms with boiler and stove. My understanding is that CO is lighter than air so will rise to the bedrooms, which is what happened to my relative and they passed in their sleep. Boiler servicing and having chimneys swept, monitors checked etc. is as important for protection from CO poisoning as from fire and smoke. It worries me at times that struggling families may try to economise on these vital safety elements of home maintenance. There is never an excuse for landlords failing their tenants in this respect.

Morning all. Pottering around. Some frogs to sort following change of bank. Direct Debits seem to have transferred across ok but there are other types of payments to sort out. I took DGCs swimming yesterday pm and then we went shopping (an expensive trip).
222 Pile of papers sorted and either recycled or filed
223 Magazines in DD's bag of stuff
224 All March cards bought and overseas one already posted. My Xmas card to sister took 9 weeks to arrive.
225 Stuff collected from vet and Mr D (Voile curtains)
226 Old red bin decluttered with the recycling and we have new one to use. Once they take the current boxes for paper, tins and glass we will be able to put those items in the red bin with cardboard and plastic. I think we are getting food waste bins as well. I'll be glad when the boxes go as stuff blows all over the place.
I have a history group this morning. I put some washing on the line which may not be a very sensible idea. Plasterer has been and is sending quote. Electrician said he will send me a date tomorrow. I wish it would warm up so I can do stuff outside. Once I have dates I am going to get a quote from a decorator to do the decorating. I may work my self up to painting kitchen skirting board but ceilings are too much for me.

Thank you for my gold star Mrs SD. 😁
@weenancyinAmerica That ’s great work, and good luck with the appointments.
3 more bags of general detritus were collected by the bin men yesterday, one for my fortnightly household rubbish and two that were the unrecyclable stuff from around the house such as old compost sacks that have been repeatedly used and were finally giving up. Most of my household rubbish is puppy pads – for my senior cat Jewel who’s been bullied out of the litter trays by Gino!
I went through another box of kitchen bits that had been left behind in the house and sorted out what I wanted, what I could send to the CS and then the remainder into the recycling. I do still need to home what I’m thinking of keeping. I find myself thinking ‘if I put this in the drawer then I won’t remember I have it so should I leave it out so I can see if it is actually helpful and dispose of it if it isn’t’. But I don’t want to leave it out because it’s going to clutter what little worksurface I have in the kitchen. Procrastination! 🤣
It’s looking like another damp and dreary day here but I must get outside sometime and bring in potting compost to pot on my chillies and peppers that have not only germinated but have a couple, (or more), true leaves. Oh, for some sunshine. 🌞
The frog I kicked off at the beginning of the week is just sitting there looking at me as I wait for a phone call to arrange an appointment. I hate this scenario as it means I’m constantly on edge wondering if I’ve missed it so I always have to have the phone within reach. Hopefully next week. 🤞🤞
Much love to everyone. Dxx
