New Capita-run Civil Service Pension Scheme - problems (what a surprise!)

This thread, and the experiences of various colleagues, has really opened my eyes to an unexpected reality of public sector pensions.
While folks with more volatile DC pension investments often note that one risk is having to delay retirement if the markets change at the wrong time.. so it appears there is a similar parallel in the public sector: one may feel the need to defer (or take earlier) a pension around the times that a new administrator is taking over the contract.

I’m pleased you have had some acknowledgment. I put my request in in November with a deferred retirement date of 19th May. I’ve logged on but nothing. Hopefully I’ll receive something soon.
Nice to hear something positive, it gives me hope!!1 -

This, especially the statement about compensation might be of interest

I wonder how much this major co ck up is costing with £5k - £10k interest free loans bridging available and possible compensation claims on top of this …… Who's paying for it - the Government or Capita ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
capita is paying interest for those due after 1 Dec 2025, they have offered to pay for the HMRC surge team; beyond that I dare say their will be a dogfight between the cabinet office, MyCsp and capita as to who is liable for anything else. Considering the amount of time it took the post office victims to get justice, I wouldn’t hold my breath on an early resolution to any of this.
Probably end up being us pensioners - we’re still paying for the whole McCloud business after all; heaven forbid those actually responsible pay🙄0 -
Thanks. I like this from the link contained in your link:-
Inherited quotations
Capita inherited 8,063 cases on 1 December 2025. All those eligible for lump sum payments have been paid. Where Capita has all the required information, pensions are being set up for regular payment by the end of April for payments to begin from May. Arrears and interest on delayed payments will be paid accordingly.
Sounds pretty certain they are on track. Not guaranteed I realise, but sounds encouraging. My retirement date was 1 December, so I could well receive mine on Friday then 😎0 -

Unfortunately, as Angela MacDonald said earlier this week:
I receive emails daily from colleagues whose lived experience does not match the recovery details that I give in these updates.
Since the figures were cited, many of those who should have allegedly received a lump sum have said on other sites that they have not received a lump sum or any contact from Capita.
Given the recent failings to publish Annual Benefit Statements, to add a retirement modeller to the website, and the recent confirmation that interest payments will be made separately to arrears payments at an unspecified later date, I think that all the updates need to be taken with a degree of scepticism.

Well seems like you’ll be the first of us in that group expecting pension payment in May. I look forward to either sending you congratulations on your good news or I’ll have a drink to commiserate as I’m due payment the following week after the bank holiday.

Cheers. I’ll update in here.

There's no sense at all to it is there…how is this doing it in order??
So you posted a form in November and nothing? That's how I was from late Jan to yesterday morning, then the email. Yes - like I say the portal shows nothing for me either….nothing except my beneficiary…she wishes! 😁
