Thanks for this. My pension became due on 1 December, so I reckon that means I should be paid by the end of May, end of April if I’m really lucky. I got my lump sum on 11 February.

The problem is that you can't rely on what they say in any way. The dates they give are guesswork, deadlines come and go. Nobody really knows. I am in the group of 'pre 1 December cases dealt with by end April'. I have had some communication with them, but remain pessimistic. I'm not making any plans.

PCS' take on the Royal mail situation.

Interesting line that the era of outsourcing is over. One wonders!

I wonder if it would be possible to take each department and add up all the monies that have been paid out to private companies in contracts and additional payments even for this one area of activity, payroll and pensions, then compare the in house cost of keeping it with civil service.

I do wonder if any actual money has been saved even before you look at the disruptive effect of the difference between permanent civil servants employed on these tasks, buildings who housed them and associated staffing, the infrastructure around that ie sandwich shops and where people went for their shopping, mortgages, houses, schools etc then the contrast of all these temporary employees (I know there always must have been some permanent jobs but there's been lots of temps and fta) and the uncertainty that brings to peace of mind, ability to get mortgage, plan for having a family etc etc along with a couple of years every so often when they know the contract hasn't been renewed which must be awful for the workers.

I’d bet no money whatsoever has been saved, but a few people have got vey rich, like all the other short sighted privatisations that have happened

What I find incredibly frustrating about this story is that Capita also missed several of their milestones on the CSPS contract, and were behind on the IT portal, but were still allowed to take it over from MyCSP.

Now I know there were issues about whether MyCSP were able to continue with the contract in any event, and that they were having problems of their own (some related to the transfer, some not), but given the obvious red flags over Capita, it would have still made more sense to allow an extension of time for either Capita or MyCSP to get their respective houses in order, before going through with the transfer

Is anyone waiting a transfer out of CSP or know the timescales for dealing with transfer requests? I’ve been waiting since last August and nothing. My receiving pension have requested payment from CSP twice now and not received a response.

  • My reading of the latest update is that some of us expecting payment of pension to start by end of April will now at best fall into May. So passes another overpromise by the looks of it.

Yep, that's how I take it for my situation. My retirement date is the 9th so will just have to wait and see. I've given up on them paying before the end of April.

After seeing the very latest updates from Angela I've been pretty disheartened as things appear to be going in the wrong direction again.

My situation is I applied to take early deferred classic, in late Jan giving the 4 months notice for 1 Jun commencement and had zero comms since I posted my form back in Jan. The portal shows no information old or new. I've been letting them progress and concentrate on the backlog for others but was thinking I'd need to start doing something soon. It will be my only income from June.

Very unexpectedly I received an email early this morning (Sunday!) saying they had my application/quote request and to bear with them! It wasn't automated, so it was great to think they are working 7 days a week!

Even though I don't know when I will receive payments, it says it all about the current situation that I am still really pleased at just being acknowledged and having a reference number to move on with!

Hopefully, this info helps others…we do exist in the system!
