Our intrepid heroes, Richard Holroyd, Chief Executive Officer at Capita Public Services, and Chris Clements, Managing Director at Capita Public Services, are again appearing before the Public Accounts Committee at 10.00 tomorrow (Thursday 26th March)
It will be broadcast live on Parliamentlive.tv and subsequently available on the website , it was quite a lively session last time with the committee promising to hold Capita's representatives feet to fire upon their return

Based on Angela MacDonald's latest update and the PAC hearing on Thursday 26th March, it seems the intended timeline is:
- By end March update portal (which is why site is down). This will include alpha-only Annual Benefit Statements for 2025 (ie post 2022 service only for Remedy members)
- By 10th April have contacted everyone to determine which members still want to retire from the backlog
- By end April have fully implemented all pensions, partially implemented to date - a lot of members have had lump sum only paid, by end of April they will have their ongoing pension put into payment
- In May and June catch-up on backlog, addressing members by date of retirement, so all members will be delayed, but hopefully by an ever decreasing amount. To date, very little work has been done on quotes requested after 1 December due to work on the backlog.
- By end of June have implemented at least 400 of the Immediate Choice elections received but not yet implemented from the statements sent out between January and March 2025
- By end of June, all Key Performance Indicators will be back to normal, ie, service at reasonable levels
- By the end of March 2027 have issued all Immediate Choice Remedy Savings Statements.
Somewhere along the line, roll out the long-awaited modeller, and also PCSPS Annual Benefit Statements for 2025. Then roll out older ABS back to 2022. Also continuous improvement of the functionality already rolled out. Although on Thursday Capita said the modeller would be rolled out this weekend, but Angela MacDonald published an update on the same day saying the modeller would be rolled out at a later date.
Given Annual Benefit Statement 2026 is due by 31st August, I'm not sure why there is an aim to reproduce out-of-date ABSs given huge amounts of the information still won't be available going into April, rather than focus on the statements due as at 31st March 2026 and which must be issued by 31 August 2026 but can be issued earlier.
So the key forthcoming dates to watch out for are:
- April - Pension Increases due
- End April - all cases partially implemented will be fully implemented, with both lump sum and ongoing pension in payment.
- End May - pensioner P60s due
- End June - service back to expected standards
- 31st August - statutory deadline for combined ABS/RSS annual statements
- 6th October - statutory deadline for Pension Saving Statements to be issued
- 31st October - deadline for Pension Dashboard connection
- March 2027 - Immediate Choice Remedy Saving Statements all issued (and presumably remaining deferred members RSS)
- 6 April 2027 - implement Inheritance Tax changes

What about the ability to log on to the portal for existing retirees ?

Planned maintenance, hope you’re not expecting much in the way of a change, I have low expectations but…

That seems to be being tackled in a 3-pronged approach:
(1) Do not acknowledge it is an issue - it is only multi-stint members who cannot use the portal
(2) Acknowledge it might be an issue, but the forthcoming upgrades should improve matters
(3) Reassure members that there is nothing of interest in the portal that they are missing out on anyway.

First class summary - as always. Thank you.

I've applied mid jan as deferred member for payment 1 jun. T'was by post and nothing on the online account acknowledged as yet. I'm following the updates, waiting, and giving the hit squad its time before following up.
