A Very MSE Advent 2025

Oh, and I wrapped a birthday present last night for delivery today - not christmassy but I have quite a few December and January birthdays and I end up shopping for them all in with Christmas presents which sometimes gets a bit overwhelming so I'm pleased this one was done without much fuss!
I did get slightly overwhelmed at Mr C asking me about dates in case we want to arrange a Christmas gathering 😬 on looking at my diary I realised I don't have a completely free day until December 21st! 😬 lots of weekend nice things, but work is also busy and lots of commuting at the minute, so the prospect of arranging for visitors didn't fill me with joy. Need to have a think about whether there's anything I can remove - quite a bit is 'this event is on and we might go' or 'going out for the evening and might stay over' so not all necessary.
Anyway, I want to be cheerful, not stressed!11 -
That is a MSE find! Wreath-making classes locally start at £15. I updated mine with an understated chazzer find, at £1 I was happy to hang it on my front door!Prudent said:I love the variety and inventiveness of the ideas here. I have stocked up a few ideas for future days, thank you. So far for me: Day 1 I wrapped some presents to Christmas music and then had a lovely online group relaxation session. Day 2: I went to my first Christmas lunch today in a local community centre which was followed by a brass band playing carols and a sing along. Day 3 - I will be going to a wreath making workshop at a local community garden. All activities so far have been free.
@Wednesday2000 - mine is (artificial) poinsettia.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5 -
I might have to look for an artificial poisettia too.
It is a stunningly bright and sunny day here. I joined a 21 day meditation Whatsapp group and I am three days behind so I am going to do three meditations today, but spaced out. I just did the first meditation in the bath.
I have a very dull OAT to do today. I want to take everything out of my kitchen cupboards and clean the shelves and rearrange. I am about to have a toastie, hang up the laundry and then make a start. I will do the second meditation afterwards.
I'm wearing my new khaki joggers which isn't particularly glam or Christmassy, but they are very soft and comfortable.

Thanks to this thread I wore my new charity shop find - a black cropped jacket with silver and gold flowers on to work - I'm doing a lot of zoom stuff today. I was waiting for a "reason" to wear it - but actually 3rd December is reason enough.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!9 -
Sounds like the phrase you are looking for in response to his question is "Not this year, I don't think"Cheery_Daff said:Oh, and I wrapped a birthday present last night for delivery today - not christmassy but I have quite a few December and January birthdays and I end up shopping for them all in with Christmas presents which sometimes gets a bit overwhelming so I'm pleased this one was done without much fuss!

Ooher, I forgot to post the comment I wrote! I have made three batches of shortbread this morning, and gifted one of these to my friend whose birthday was yesterday. I have my new earrings in (sparkle) and have begun using the Santa beakers.
I have ducked out of a festive get-together this evening though as I just don't feel the energy. I had a lift offered too!

Today’s advent calendar window was a Christmas tree! 😊
Opened my dad’s honey to have some for breakfast. My dad is 85 and produces a very distinctive honey which he won’t forever, so it’s nice to celebrate it now ❤️
The light on the oak leaves at the bottom of the garden is beautiful today 🌞
Can’t see it very well in this image, but it’s like a glowing bronze against the blue of the sky.

I realise that we have a lot of different flavour tea bags, most of which have come from hotel stays. So I've decided that we will chose a different flavour and really savour a cuppa each day and turn it into a festive treat. Today is a really delicious Bakewell brew. Hopefully it will help declutter too.
I saved a handwash and hand lotion set from a gift set earlier this year and I'm now using this in my shiny clean bathroom. The bottles are a beautiful rich burgundy colour and they are apparently a calm scent.
My new gingerbread man tea towel is ready for action.
I'm wearing a navy blue jumper with beautiful pearl and sparkle decorations. Whenever I wear it I get compliments on how pretty it is. 3rd December is a perfect excuse to glam up.

Well I’ve truly ticked a few Christmas boxes today. Did Get Fit With Rick advent challenge day 3 first thing. Then took Mr SA into town for his eye test wearing a jumper dress with a sequinned snowflake and matching snowflake earrings. We went for a coffee which we had in the festive takeaway cups as we didn’t have time to sit inside. I also had a festive cranberry and oat cookie. We had a look at the Christmas market in the city centre before heading home. This afternoon I’m going to finish putting the Christmas decorations up. I also finished reading Christmas book number 1 this morning and started on the next one. Oh and I posted my Christmas cards 🎄I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10
