A Very MSE Advent 2025

Hello, I will try to remember to post on here as well as my diary. I like to put out one Christmassy thing each day as it makes a nice free Advent activity & also helps me appreciate the lovely things I already own.
Yesterday was Advent Sunday so I hung up our Advent calendar wall hanging.
Today, 1st Dec - We have brought all our Christmas CDs downstairs - in fact one is playing at the moment. A nice mixture of choral, folk, pop, so something for every mood & atmosphere.
F2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (46/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

I can't believe the year has gone so fast! I've decided to tackle an OAT a day - or at least dedicate 2hrs to one per day, I've got some biggies outstanding! - and festive music will provide a welcome distraction. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.8 -
Happy MSE Advent everyone 😊
I have taken a candle in a nice jar off the shelf and put it on the table for, shock horror, actually using!
I felt a bit anxious doing so and I identified this as not wanting to use nice things because there's a part of me that doesn't believe there'll be future nice things to take their place, so I think mse advent will be really valuable to me for remembering that I'm allowed joy now and that I have to trust in allowing space for future nice things to occur too. Bit deep for mid-morning 😂13 -
I had my first advent calendar choccie this morning after my toast. I just had a nice bath and used the epsom salts and pumpkin spice bubble bath and I remembered to use my magnesium body butter on my feet before putting on my socks.

I have booked two more classes this week which will take me up to 40 classes this year. I am having a little xmas get together after one of the classes (mince pies and tea etc...) so I'm about to write the people in the group a xmas card each and I'm bringing some mint chocolates with me. I did buy a xmas jumper from a charity shop that I will wear.
I had a really bad night sleep last night as I keep coughing and wheezing from my cold so I'm about to get my yoga mat out and do a simple stretching routine from YouTube as I feel quite achy even after my bath.
I'm wearing a "new" chazzer top which has sparkling silver sequins on it, I'm not going out anywhere apart from the local shop but why not?
I have started doing a gratitude journal daily so I'm about to fill in today's page.8 -
I put some nice perfume on before going out for my run in the wind and rain this morning and it just does cheer you up to smell nice for no-one but yourself!
I'm going to burn a scented candle later when it gets dark as I also keep things 'for best' too much and sometimes 'best' never actually arrives. This time of year when it's dark and miserable is exactly when we need the little sparks of joy so I'm going to throw myself into this with gusto!9 -
Had to go for a mammogram today so promised myself a nice cup of tea and a mince pie and look at the Christmas decorations in the garden centre (mammogram lorry in carpark) but when I got in there it was so busy, the decorations made me feel overwhelmed by the tackiness of it all and the noise was way to loud.
so, I bought myself three mini cyclamen in bright red to go in an old metal bucket I bought in the summer. Planting it up as been something I wanted to do since it was purchased so now it will be a Christmas joy.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!11 -
Today I am wearing a pair of little silver engraved heart earrings - they irritate my ears if I wear them for more than a day here and there but I still love them! I've also brought a set of lights and a ludicrous tinsel sausage dog into the office - the dog is on the windowsill behind me and the lights are there too currently but will probably end up round my computer monitor.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
