EDF FreePhase Dynamic Tariff

Annoyingly EDF have just put up the day rates for both the 12 & 18 month versions of the tariff which is now certainly making me think twice. Now at 36.1p & 34.2p respectively.
A crystal ball would be very useful right now!
Might have to look into some home battery options to see if thats an option to shift more usage off peak.

the 2 hours in between are zero, so that should provide 12 hours of free electric, 04:00 to 16:00

Just to double-check, those on the FreePhase Static tariff always benefit from free electricity during the exact same time windows as those on FreePhase Dynamic?
(Basically just checking that one can look at the historic pricing available via the FreePhase Dynamic price watch pages to get an idea of when and how often this happens.)

Yes that is correct, Static customers get bill credit, Dynamic customers get charged 0 rate during free E periods.

I haven't done an analysis, but it seems that (apart from the world cup promotion) the free electricity periods generally happen at weekends - ditto the very cheap rates on Dynamic.

Free periods coincide with zero/negative wholesale price. That is more likely at weekends when demand is lower, but it mainly needs to be windy and not too cold.

Tomorrow 09:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 16:00 should be free electric. Unsure what will happen between 23:00 and 06:00 as there is no negative 60 minute period, however the average total is negative after the levy reductions that were introduced in April are applied.

On my notifications for Freephase Dynamic I have:
11pm (Tonight - Saturday) to 6am (Tomorrow - Sunday) - Free
6am - 11am - 8.5p/kWh
11am - 1pm - Free
1pm - 3pm - 8.5p/kWh
3pm - 4pm - Free
4pm - 7pm - 38.4p/kWh
7pm - 11pm - 8.5p/kWh
(This is North West region)
