Well mine was finally activated after 5 hours, but no banner. I queried with the AI chat bot which claimed there is no Nvidia promotion, only one for Rolls Royce or Barclays or a few others. And that IGNVD isn't a valid code (even though the app told me it was when I first entered it).
So I guess that's that, congratulations to those that did get in here, but I'm not going to waste any more time on it1 -
Thanks, didn't notice the other thread

I’ve done the Freetrade account and deposited £50 to get the free share. Seems like have to wait between 7-10 days before actually get it going by the T&C. It also talked about free shares for referring a friend. Is this a separate offer ?

Cashback, so tax free.
Yes, for that reason there is no tax on receiving a free share.
In my accounting I have two transactions: 1., I take the opening position price as the cashback and then 2., buy the share with that amount. Then when I sell any subsequent change in price I treat as a capital gain or loss.
No: when you sell it, the sale is subject to CGT, and when calculating the gain you can deduct the acquisition costs, which are 0. You are not free to imagine 2 transactions, neither of which really happened: that way tax evasion lies.
You may point out that it would be have been more tax efficient if the cashback had been in the form of cash, which you then used to buy a share, instead of in the form of a free share. True; it's just that that's not what happened.

I think so. The refer a friend offer is essentially an ongoing one.

Thanks. I can only see to find the T&C for referring a friend and not the ones for just opening a new account now so wasn’t certain. Guess I’ll wait and see what free share I get.

Where have you seen that offer? I can only see the refer a friend one.

It’s mentioned on page one of this thread as far as I’m aware. It doesn’t mention anything about needing to refer a friend.

I see. I assume the t's and c's can be found here. It shows 2 different links. One for an affiliate referral, and a seperate one for the refer a friend offer.
