Stay safe in that white stuff, and, hope the slippers arrive soon. The hoist toing and froing must be so frustrating.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
So many wonderful positives in your post, and especially that the new job and youngest's work are looking so good.
I think it's worth at least investigating complaining about the hoist company, they've had a significant impact on your family and left you to pick up the bill.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. We had a couple of inches of wet snow. Put my yak tracks on and got miss giddychops out. Dropped her off and then had another walk to get my steps in.Yesterday I tackled the housework and laundry ⛰️. Decluttered 2 huge throws (cs when the weather improves ) marked as rags for cs. Brought down 2 beautiful patchwork quilts my friend made me. The settes really need recovering as they are over 20 years old but are mega comfy. Zips need replacing etc. Will put on the list to consider. My consider list is getting longer.1) New kitchen and oven- cupboards are falling apart and oven keeps cutting out. Been here 14 years and it was old when we got here.
2) Recover the sette- its old and zips don’t work so cushions don’t stay in place. It’s over 20 years old.
3) 3 windows have blown . 1 of them was replaced 13 years ago and other 2 weren’t replaced.4) Conservatory or heated porch. So far the youngest has almost taken out floor length curtains and we are constantly having to move the dining table out the way so they can get their chair in the house.5) new radiator in the bathroom as it’s rusty.
Anyway back to yesterday only money spent was £1.15 on mushrooms 🍄🟫 from the local shop. Picked up my slippers 😀. Phone calls made. Appointment for will is booked. Hate to think how much that is going to cost. Must remember to contact my nephew to check he’s still ok with being a trustee.Plan for today is to meet the eldest half way and handover their reissued bank card and go for a walk. Then back home. Mr 🐞 has shredding in his future, he just doesn’t know it yet😂.
Time to get up but my bed is so warm and cosy

Had a lovely couple of hours yesterday with the eldest and managed to complete all my steps. Paid for the eldest to get into the reserve and drinks with the last of last years funpot money, so no additional money spent.I had hoped that all the walking, yoga, 2 short stints at rowing, eating less and cheese reduction 😭 would have resulted in some weight loss. 🤣 nope not even half a pound, in fact I’ve put a pound and a half on. Flummoxed 😲 . It’s usually at this point I throw my arms up and declare why bother, but I will persist another week.
Miss giddychops is moulting like crazy so got the brush out and managed to defluff a small Yorkshire terriers worth of hair.
Shredding didn’t happen as flobbin on settee was apparently a priority 🤣. Although hoovering and general housework did get done between us.
Best get sorted as I’ve got to go collect olio requests and then we are going for brunch to my in laws.

Collected 11 bags of cobs from olio volunteer. Should keep Mr🐞 fed in lunches for a week or 2 (maybe🤣). Put the majority in the freezer. Finished another book and then sat and calculated how much I saved by harvesting psb and sprouts the other day for tea- £3.30. Adjusted my figures. Think I might add savings from using olio as well. Tea tonight will comprise of olio carrots/sweet potatoes, Christmas veggies (15p) swede and parsnips and homegrown potatoes, psb and sprouts. Plus homemade yorkies, veggie sausages and gravy- full price.
Mr🐞 and I are looking where we would like to go on holiday. Best go as the maps are out.

I was sure I'd put on weight over Christmas as I just seemed to be (sorry to say this) flab - but the scales say I'm down half a pound. I've given it some thought and come to the conclusion that junk food and lack of exercise means I've lost muscle and gained fat, but muscle is heavier than fat so while I look bigger, I weigh less. It's the only way I can explain it.ladybird1106 said:I had hoped that all the walking, yoga, 2 short stints at rowing, eating less and cheese reduction 😭 would have resulted in some weight loss. 🤣 nope not even half a pound, in fact I’ve put a pound and a half on. I'm think that perhaps you have gained muscle but lost fat? In which case you may weigh more but you will be healthier and look trimmer. So it's more than worth continuing.
