  • I’m completely new to IG and have opened and invested £100 so far. I’ve got the welcome emails etc. but have had no correspondence confirming or even mentioning the offer. Is this a regular offer that they do?
  • I've just signed up using the link in this week's email. It won't allow me to leave a deposit, the 'help' bit is, unsurprisingly unhelpful, and I'm directed to their phone centre where they are 'experiencing an unusal amount of calls. I've been on hold for half an hour.

This hasn't been worth the effort.

Joined IG last night for the £200 and it was a nightmare trying to navigate the website and most surprisingly Martins instructions were quite rubbish! Still unclear on exactly what I have to do as regards investing the isa funds I've put in.

Yes, it's a dreadful website to navigate around.
And yes, the MSE instructions are poor, even to the extent of stating you must open an ISA, when the terms don't say that, they say a GIA, or ISA, or SIPP. So no need for an ISA.

    MSE's wording:

If you're new to investment platform IG*, it will match your first deposit up to a max £200 in cashback if you open its stocks and shares ISA and invest for 5mths+. So deposit £200 and you'll get £200 back. Here’s how it works…

Open a share dealing account via our special IG link* (you’ll be able to choose the account type you want to open during the sign-up process). Going via our link will automatically apply the promo code MSE200 (it’s easy to spot).

Open a stocks and shares ISA manually. This is easy to do – from the main dashboard, click ‘Add an account’ and then select ‘ISA’ and follow the instructions.

Fund your stocks and shares ISA by clicking ‘Add funds’ from the main dashboard (make sure you select the stocks and shares ISA, not the share dealing account). You can't use a joint bank account; it must be in your sole name. Transfers in aren't eligible for this offer.

Use your stocks and shares ISA to make your first investment (no min). To do this, click ‘Open platform’ for your stocks and shares ISA and then select the share or ETF you want to invest in (prices are in pence). Once you’ve chosen, click ‘Buy’ at the top-right and choose the number of shares you want, then complete the purchase. Alternatively, you can download the IG Invest app after signing up.

You must complete all these steps by 27 Feb, then hold your investment until 1 July. You’ll then receive the cashback by 30 July (it’s paid into your share dealing account, which you can then immediately withdraw, along with any other balances/investments).

    IG's wording:

You must satisfy all the following conditions to participate in the Promotion:

    A. Be a UK resident and aged 18 years or older.

    B. Open an GIA, or ISA or SIPP with IG between 9 February2026 and 27 February 2026 using the promotional code: MSE200. You must not have held an IG Share Dealing Account at any time before 9 February 2026

    C. Deposit funds to your Share Dealing Account for the first time between 9 February 2026 and 27 February 2026.

    D. Make a First Trade between 9 February 2026 and 27 February 2026.

    E. You must maintain an active investment portfolio in your Share Dealing until 30 June 2026 (inclusive). This means you must open, close, or maintain an open position in each month from February to June 2026 inclusive.

  • absolute nightmare to navigate , closing my account 10 minutes after opening . Trading 212 much easier

So, I've got £200 in the isa there, do I now have to buy say the Lloyds or Rolls Royce shares (2 of the top ones shown)? I'm in the app now.

Yes, you have to buy something, though not necessarily immediately as the terms state that has to be before 27th Feb. So there's no rush.

Up to you what you choose. I bought one ETF - Invesco FTSE All-World UCITS ETF Acc (I think - I'm reading from my handwritten scribble on my desk). Cost me £6 something.

I was attempting to buy the Lloyds and it would only allow me to purchase about £199 worth (because of the share prices I imagine) , so will I need to add more funds to enable it to be over £200?

You don't need to invest the whole £200. Just deposit £200 in the first place.

And do at least one trade.
