Be interesting to see the BEV pre registration numbers for September & i would expect the rate of pre registrations to increase towards year end due to ZEV mandate  as almost another 5% of market share is needed.

The vast majority of HGV fires start in the HGV powertrain or brakes. Since the cab of the HGV was one of the last parts to burn, the trailer brakes seem the most likely suspect.

Until someone in authority makes a statement on the cause of this fire (beyond "accidental", which the Fire Service have already been quoted as saying) no-one can say more than that.

Here are two previous car transporter fires where the fire seems to have started in the vicinity of the trailer brakes:

Well the data seems quite clear to me since pre-reg cars have to be logged as fleet.

vast majority of electric car fires astart off due to thermal runaway on the lithion ion cells.

vast majority of house fires start off in the kitchen.

this argument is disengenious, duhhh.. the heat generating part causes fires.

So we won't be seeing these cars advertised as registered on the last day of September and manufacturer's hoping to sell them and register a 2nd hand sale

Just looked online and can find 1410 EVs registered this year some of them 75 reg all with less than 100 miles for sale are they all fleet sales

Yes those rules have been in place for over a decade.

Private buyers have to be private buyers so they are the 22.1% buying electric in September.

Don’t go by what is on AutoTrader - behind every pre reg ad there may be 100 cars “more cars available” 😏 - that has been going on for years across all models ICE or not.
