Well done Furrypig on your 1000 posts  .
I had some good news yesterday, I went to my local car dealership with a view to trading in my 56 plate very expensive car - petrol is ridiculous, to something more ecomonical and am going for a test drive this afternoon. If I like the car they will be paying me approx £2000 - bonus that will pay off my catalogues - happy days!:D
Went into town this morning to get DS new school shoes £34 later  he seems to have shot up, do other mums see their kids have growth spurts?
Hugs to those who are poorly, I have a niggly cough but fingers crossed it doesn't develop into anything worse.
DS is currently painting his Warhammer (well making a mess on my table  ).
Off to make lunch shortly, dinner tonight is salmon, rice and sweetcorn for me (all from the freezer, cupboard) and DS is having fish nuggets, sweetcorn and chips (again from freezer etc)
Meal plan complete until 23 Jan using cupboard and freezer contents, just need to get veg, bread and milk
Have a good day all0 -

Me again,
I can't stay away after all!
I started well and got the washing up done on WM on as said and then have faffed around.
I've taken the tree decs off the tree but haven't taken the tree down, swept the kitchen floor but not mopped it, randomly started to tidy out a bedroom cupboard and then realised I hadn't the energy so stopped! I need to get a grip. LOL!
Oh well, just had a text from a friend who I haven't seen at all over Christmas so she's going to pop over now. Oh well, so much for a productive day.
Hope you're all doing better than me.Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
Oh my - the grunge behind/beneath the tumble-drier. A thick layer of kitchen grease, drier fluff, cathair, old catfood and general skank. I had to take a palette-knife to it to decake it and chip it off, and then get on my hands and knees and scrub. Still, it's done now. I'm never letting it get into that state again - even Kim and Aggie would've been struck dumb with horror.0

Good afternoon everyone
Been to work this morning so not had time to read the thread properly.
All the kids are at school today so have taken the chance to empty the kitchen drawers and have found plastic boxes galore!!! Going to sort them all out later and also do a freezer inventory.
Having homemade pizza for tea tonight.
Hope everyone has a good Friday!!!!

Hi!
Another one here who had trouble sleeping last night. I've also got a cold and a sore throat so that didn't help.
VickyA I think you've been really unlucky in the schools that you've worked in so far with their rubbish Headteachers. I think you will find the school that you are happy in, it's out there somewhere.
I've been teaching in the same school for the past 15 years and can't imagine ever teaching anywhere else. It's in a poor part of Liverpool and when I started here it was in a building that was over 100 years old and was falling apart, but a new one was built in 2000. The staff, kids, parents (most of them) are what make a school and it was a steep learning curve at first, but now I'm one of the 'oldies' here.
We were one of those 'tough' schools and yes teachers in other schools did look down their nose at us but we've had the last laugh. We were OFSTEDed in October and we're given an OUTSTANDING grade and my lovely Headteacher got her OBE from the Queen in December. Please give yourself another chance as I think that 'your school' is out there.
Sorry about that ramble!
DH and DD1 are round at my MIL's this afternoon and DD2 is playing at her friend's. I've stayed home as I don't want to share my germs with anyone else!
The wm and td have been going for a couple of hours and I don't feel like doing any housework today.;)
Have a good day!0 -
Good afternoon everyone.
TIRED MUM and HARIBO - thanks! I am feeling so much better now but I pity those who have just started sniffling or coughing and I hope no-one catches that horrible vomiting virus. Sounds dreadful.
Welcome to SKIPBOY - such a lot of newbies on here now so 'hi' to any I missed while I was ill.
VICKYA - I do hope you can find the right school for you. My DIL teaches 'A' level geography at the local college and she loves it - she says the students are really keen because they have not been made to go, they have chosen to study. My DS2's GF is in her first year teaching science at the local comprehensive which has a good record for results and discipline. She gets a bit stressed but not by the students; it's just the lesson-planning which she has to do every night but she knows it will be better once this first year is out of the way.
Well, I've cleaned upstairs and done quite a bit of sorting out so will be ready to start packing up the Christmas decs tomorrow and then I can give the downstairs a blitz. I also managed to get the food shopping done but, annoyingly, the supermarket had run out of leeks which I need for tomorrow's stew so I will have to pop into the village tomorrow. We get so used to everything being available all in one shop that it really throws me when something I need is not there!
I have a bacon joint in the oven for dinner tonight; we'll have it with chips and maybe some salad ifIcan be bothered to wash a lettuce. Pudding will be yellow-stickered profiteroles and cream. Looking forward to that bit!
Well, after quite a mild dry start to the day, it is now drizzling and has got colder. Most of my washing is on the airer but I must confess to using the TD to get the towels dry.
I bought some more wool today - even though I have loads; the wool shop had some real bargains which I couldn't resist. One day next week I'm going to go through all my knitting and crochet patterns and start planning all the gifts I intend to make for birthdays and Christmas. I said the same thing this time last year - what happened to all my good intentions?
Well, better go and get some work done - the holiday is well and truly over, now, isn't it?
Will call back later. (((Hugs))) to all in need.

Good afternoon :hello:
Yes, I'm another victim of the Old Style epidemic. The cold/flu bug, not the vomiting one, thankfully. Still, I am off work and am still in my PJs. I had a burst of energy this afternoon and got a bit of housework done, thoughNow I'm under a blanket on the sofa again watching daytime TV
I hope I have the energy tomorrow to take the Christmas tree down and drag it down to the local recycling point. I also need to sort through two boxes of papers, I'm ashamed to say I got so sick of the clutter just before Christmas that I packed it up just to get it off the floor and surfaces, but now I can't find anything
Vicky and Scuzz, best of luck with escaping your employment problems!

Just popped back to say I now have a lovely sparkly clean oven - it really is spotless. Didnt make it dirty when I cooked dinner either :rotfl: .
Sad to say that the oven is the cleanest thing in my house, I sort of sat down when I had my lunch & didnt get up till it was time to cook dinner  .
Still feeling muggy and lethargic now, am hoping for some energy to materialise so I can get something done today.0
