  • Morning all, hugs to those who need them. Busy day for us today. Taking boys out for a few hours to the woods/park/animal sanctuary with thier bike and scooter and some of their school friends for a few hours later so they will enjoy that plus gives us mums a little fresh air. Weather here overcast but quite mild. We had a little flurry of snow two days ago and that was it. Didnt even get the showers which were forecast - not that I'm complaining but the kids would have loved snow.
Taking a few sandwiches and fruit with us to stave off any peckishness while we are there. Hope you all have a good day and get well soon to the poorly ones. And good luck to those having probs at work.

  • Hi all, massive <<<hugs>>> to all those who are not well, sounds like a real OS epidemic has swept through the board. I'm very lucky (so far! fingers crossed) to have only got away with a cold, which is on the way out now.

No snow here yesterday, it's grey and drizzly here at the moment - not that I mind, now that the kids have grown up, snow is just a nuisance these days (Grumpy Old Woman-itis sets in :rotfl: ) and i hate driving in it.

Quiet day planned today, I have washed two loads of towels already and a third waiting to go into the machine (having the kids here for Christmas creates HEAPS of washing). I have to make a start on taking down the cards and decorations today, need to make up a few tags for next year and recycle the rest. The tree will come down tomorrow when I have a few hefty men about the place to help (tree is almost the size of the one in Trafalgar Square despite me requesting a smaller one this year  ).

Dinner last night was a reduced beef joint which I pot roasted and which was delicious. Plenty left over today for sandwiches for DS and I for lunch and I will freeze the rest together with the leftover veg and gravy for another dinner one night. Dinner tonight will be a salmon fillet which I found lurking in the fridge with roast veggies and butternut squash, yum.

Have a good day everyone. Keep taking the medicinal brandy/whisky/ginger wine, all you sickies.

    Love

Nothing exciting happening today although one of my Xmas pressies to mysef was a proffessional oven clean. The man is here now as I type - I do clean my oven regularly but it still gets a build up which is tough to shift - if it goes well think I will put it on my Xmas next year also.

You're making me feel guilty - I don't think I've cleaned my oven in years! Maybe I should do that tomorrow as part of the kitchen blitz - I assume Stardrops won't do the job?!

    Morning all,

Must start by saying again how motivating it is to read your messages. I can't believe how productive you all are so early in the morning! I think I'm still using the excuse that it's the holidays so I can move on go slow. :o

MASSIVE ((((HUGS)))) to all with the lergy or those fed up at work.
I was there once and made a massive career change into teaching only to find I wasn't sure about that either.

VickyA I'm in my second year of teaching and agree with the previous post about year groups. Last year I had year 1 and hated it and am now in year 4 and LOVE it! I think the school you're in and the management also effects it though so maybe you could look at a school with a different ethos.

Anyway, plan for the day is not to sit on the internet all day!
List of jobs that needs doing:
    - washing up
    - WM on
    - BM on
    - decs away (yes, I have been saying this one all week!)
    - dinner on
    - mop kitchen floor

Have a good day all. :D
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

    Hi All,
just thought i`d pop back for a quick catch up, the soup i made has been blended and turned out far better than i`d hoped , i think i`m finally gettng the hang of it after some big disasters :D

I`ve also just been dividing some stew up into containrs for the fridge and freezer and i was going to chop some cooked chicken up to add to it but it actually tastes really nice on it`s own due to the fact that i experimented with some herbs, the chicken can now be frozen and i can make another meal out of it and some sandwich fillings on sunday.

Does any one know if quark can be frozen?

The kitchens now sorted and the washing is hung on the rads so it`s time to sort myself out now ready for the shops.
    Catch you all later!
Oh and welcome to Skipboy and Vegaslover, its nice here and very friendly!

Dont feel guilty - my oven was new last year and was so lovely and sparkly that I decided I am going to keep this one clean - my last one was horrible when I moved here and I hardly bothered.

Think stardrops might not be enough if you do decide to clean it.

I know what im like though- its going to be hard cooking in my lovely clean oven this weekend. Mind you I have bought a oven liner from Lakeland so that should make the job easier next time.

    Morning all

Another one full of cold here - sneezed at about 3pm yesterday and was suddenly left with a full blown cold - how does that happen???

Anyway - DH let me have a lie in this morning and got DD's ready for school - then I soaked in a nice hot bath for an hour...feel a little more human now - or should that be hamster....damn sinus!!

All this talk of cooker cleaning has reminded me that I was going to do mine today - think I might be better leaving it to when I feel a bit better or I'll get annoyed with it and break something.

HM burgers tonight, DH made 2 lots of burger mix up last time to just needed to fish it out the freezer earlier - my sort of dinner! Will serve with our current fav....potato peeling crunchies (potato peelings roasted with black pepper and paprika - they turn out like crisps but far nicer!!)....waste not want not!!

DH is hoping to hear about a new job today - he was approached by a headhunter a few weeks ago but we weren't sure anything would come of it - he got more details yesterday and is really hoping to get it........I'm hoping he does too - it's nearly double his current salary, he'd be working mainly from home and could employ me as his admin bod, would just mean going into London once a week. Fingers crossed.

Right - time for more tablets and another cup of tea - hope you all feel better soon.

    Morning Everyone

Having a big cleanup here today. The house is all tidy but it is desperate for a good bottoming out. I'm about to change the beds and I want to put the old linings out of dd curtains in our curtains.

If anybody has any ideas the best way to cook Pasta and Rice in the microwave can they let me know, I might be without a cooker for some time so need to get this worked out.

    Have a good day everyone
