Morning everyone

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2/1/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hope everyone is as healthy and as happy as they can be today. Apologies, I haven't read yesterday's thread, but big hugs to all who might need them.

It's a winter wonderland here in N.Ireland, thankfully though a thawing out one. It's very pretty to wake up to a white landscape, not so pretty what happens to the twits who drive too fast in it.

Guess what....I've got no news! How boring am I!!!

Have a fab Friday everyone.

Morning Snowy, and all to follow :)

I can't sleep. DH can't sleep either, so he's having his breakfast and I'm checking up on you lot on here. :D It's not even snowing or snowed here, so I don't even have that sort of exciting news......

We've got my friend's little brother coming to stay later today, so we'll have to tidy up a little bit before he arrives. I did a meal plan last night, along with a shopping list so attacking Mr T's will be the main task of the day, along with having my hair cut. :)

I've got loads of sorting out to do before I go back to school on Monday. The thought of going back is really getting me down, mainly due to the shockingly awful head coupled with the fact that I don't think teaching is for me. I'll see how it goes over the next term and consider handing in my notice to leave at the end of the summer term.... Then I'll have spent 3 years in teaching.

I need to try to get some sleep, so I'll go for now.

Have a great day everyone.

    Morning :D

I woke up at 4.15am coughing, my throat is raw. I was coughing so hard I thought my throat was going to turn inside out :D I've numbed it for now with just-made, it's-too-hot-to-drink tea, the relief is great so my kettle will be busy today LOL. My muscles are starting to ache too - NOT FAIR, I had a nasty cold a few weeks ago, it's too soon to have another one.

Mr tru has got the boxes down from the loft so I can finally pack away the decs, they were all taken down but piled up in a corner of the lounge

I'm so glad I went shopping and to the office yesterday, there's no way I could manage it today. I still have a few things to sort at home so I'll be pottering about today, no plan in mind but just doing things as and when I feel like it.

Hi to those above and below

Good morning. Off home to bed soon and ,hopefully, will have a good sleep. That is if the smell of gas has gone from my house. Went out yesterday at 1pm and forget that i had tried to put the gas fire on. Came home at 3 to a really strong smell of Gas. The fire had been pumping out gas for 2 hours but not alight  . Managed to open every window in the house and clear the stench. Wont be doing that again for a while:o

Hope you all have a great day

    Good Morning All,

Another one who hasn't been sleeping well, stress and worry about work. Hugs to you Vicky.

Hugs to you too Tru, I hope you feel much better soon.

Snowy, how nice to have a winter landscape to look out on, we just had a few sleet like flakes.

Well, in light of not sleeping I thought that I would come and read the MSE OS thread. I have lots of ideas that I wish to implement in my 2008 quest for making wiser use of our finances, time etc. I wish to investigate the gardening thread aswell as I wish to see if it's possible to grow capsicums and if it will work out cheaper than buying them from the supermarket. I think it will do me good to get out into the fresh air more, blow away the stress and cobwebs.

I need to go and make some sandwiches for DH to take to work with him and I need to make up some skimmed milk for myself. We have been drinking soya milk, DH likes the Alpro, but due to the expense I have decided to use skimmed milk myself and let DH have all the Alpro. (I don't mind the taste of powdered skimmed milk even when just made up, honest :D )

    Have a good day all.

    Good morning everyone,

((HUGS)) Vicki - im sure you will make the right decision x

Snowy - no snow here, we didnt get any last year either, so we do feel jealous of those who do get it!!!

Just one LO here today, and she will be here late, as her dad is bringing her, so not sure what time she will get here.

DD is going to a party (only found out about it yesterday) but she is really pleased. She is a very quiet, shy girl, so doesnt mix very well, so its lovely when she does get an invite.

Quiche turned out lovely yesterdsay, was very proud of myself. Didnt do any baking, but might do that today instead - although i was planning on going on a diet next week, so not sure if its a good idea to start making cakes!!!

Blood test yesterday went well, my level the week before was high for me, so really pleased, still hoping that the hospital will discharge me next week, so fingers crossed there.

Thats about all the drivel i have at the moment, i hope everyone has a lovely day. ((HUGS)) to anyone feeling poorly still.

    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning all
No snow here fortunately, the kids at school were hyper enough anyway.
I'm pleased it's a short week, none of the teachers seem have organised anything, so I'm constantly bailing them out throughout the day. This makes it difficult to produce the large runs of paperwork that are also needed.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Cheery greetings from wet, soggy Lamb Island

We had to go to the mainland today to get more supplies. DH busy back doing work in the inbuilts. :D No rest for the wicked. ;) Just got a phone call before and we have friends arriving tomorrow. Typical. We are still very much in holiday mode at our house coupled with building mode & rain mode  the place looks like a bomb went off in it. I got a few bottles of wino today so hopefully after a few glasses they won't really notice. :D

VickyA Teaching wasn't for my DD either but she discovered it a bit sooner than you. Good luck with your decision.
Tru Maybe it's your turn to chop your head off today. :D Get better soon.
yellowmonkey Lucky you don't smoke.
    CM Reading doesn't count. :p

Well off to have a little surf and then I better think of tea. We're having fish. Hope you have a great day. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning All

tru - hope you feel better soon. Mum's been sick for three weeks, so it could be round two of whatever bug you had

Snow lasted all of 2 hours in the sky, and 2 seconds on the ground yesterday.

My friend's offered to glam up my CV for me, so I can start harassing potential employers to get of this grim trap I'm in. Still feeling very low about working here. I've given the best part of 7 years of my life to this place and for what?? To be treated like a piece of dirt found behind the fridge.

Didn't get round to the tyres yesterday - will do that tomorrow on my day off.

I too didn't sleep well last night. Not had a proper night's sleep in over 2 weeks now. Starting to feel very drained.

Savings wise, things are going well. PIN money for the year so far £14.31:T Main saving was my phone top up.

Hope everyone's ok, and those further north don't have too much trouble with the snow

Good Morning to Everyone! Thank the lord for Karvol capsules - went to bed thinking I'd be off to the surgery for steroids to help the breathing - and have woken up with a less blocked nose today. My sympathies to all other poorly folks - it's a miserable start to the new year. Vicky - if you've stuck it for 3 years and you have an awful head, maybe you should try a new school before throwing away teaching altogether - it could make all the difference to how you feel - heaven knows we need good teachers! Whatever, good luck with the decision.
My only OS bit today is likely to be the fact that my lunch of soup and a roll is all HM!
Take care folks, and help yourselves to a (((HUG))) if you'd like one.
