very unlikely.

This name change has been on the cards for a while now. the company have spent quite a lot of money and resources on finding a better suited name than sports soccer.

Just read an article in Mays Computer Weekly. Apparently Sports World have signed a 3 yr, £5m contract IT deal with Affiniti. Doesn't look like the actions of a company about to close 250 stores nationwide.

I was told that Umbro is so cheap there because Sports Soccer (or whatever) bought the Umbro brand.

It was a 16 year old assistant that told me !!!

Leeds/Birstall (out of town, near IKEA) has 'closing down' scrawled in the window in 10 feet high letters as if written by a 12 year old. I needed some gear for the gym so figured it was worth a look (I would never have gone in if it wasn't for the 'sale' sign).

Most things 70% off - I left with a couple of bags-full of kit for less than £60...pretty chuffed.

Took me longer to Q and pay than it did to pick all the items off the racks though...

i was in the preston one yesterday and spoke with staff,

they are not closing down, merely re-branding

the preston one will be shutting (temporarily) in about 6 weeks

ps/ dont go any where near them over the weekend, the queues were out the door on saturday and they had to temporarily close the store
