Sports Soccer utilise a number of 'interesting' sales techniques.

They run a 70% sale for most of the year - albeit there do tend to be a number of bargain purchases on offer. EG Current England Away Jersey at £9.99.

This 'closing down' seems to be another tool used by them to attract bargain conscious shoppers. The store near my office pulled this stunt last year and, judging from this thread, is probably about to do the same again - I spotted some interesting activities going on but am so used to it that I didn't give it another look.

I agree with a number of the comments. In the 'out of town' store near my house the staff are shocking. There is usually nobody around to get trainers from the back and so very long queues persist. When there is staff on hand they are quite often not particularly helpful.

Still despite these ploys, I am happy to continue shopping there and picking up the odd bargain - branded tracksuit bottoms for less than a tenner, cheap trainers, football boots, football kits, golf equipment, clothes etc. - most of which is usually a lot cheaper than elsewhere on the high street. Definitely worth a look for some cheap clothing and footwear

bury store had all the 'closing down' stuff up the other day, think i noticed something about 'sports world' but i didn't read it.
last time i bought something in there the girl on the till was very pleasant (quite nice looking too), although you get the odd chav assistant (and more than one chav customer in there).
bought a shirt from there for less than £4 and before that trainers (umbro) for about £12.
wouldn't mind a white england shirt with 'lampard' and his number printed on the back but they are about £40 aren't they?
well it's world cup next year, bound to be one in the sale somewhere between now and then
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)

all the countries chav's will be feeling a bit depressed!

they will just go to jd or streetwise sports instead :rotfl:

in my town you are not a true chav unless you have a jd bag on your shoulder!

well they hold lots of stolen goods :rotfl:

White maybe, but the Red away kit with name and number is £14.99 at the A10 Enfield store so probably everywhere. As I wasn't after one, I only had a quick look but they had Beckham and Owen. Didn't actually see a Lampard shirt, but it is only a case of searching.

i went in a JD the other week and couldn't believe how few clothes they have to wear while actually playing sports.

it was so full of chav tracksuits and striped polo shirts.

and of course the now legend tight chav nike baseball cap.

the one thing that will be missed from sport soccer is defo the cheap football shirts.

We have a large Soccer World near us that has not long since opened up. They too have got signs in the window about stock being reduced. Asked an assistant and he said he didn't know what was happening, everything is up in the air about it. I hope they don't close down, I love that store. Just got DH and 2 boys kitted out for the summer for £150 and they have got loads. Much cheaper than JJB and other sports stores.

They are! I got my kid (4yrs) the full liverpool home kit for £13.99 - that jersey, shorts and socks. They had quite a few left.

NO closing down signs in Greenford (Westway Cross)
