I greatly disagree with it all being a con / waste of time etc !!

The store in Swindon has been 70% off pretty much everything since Christmas, and in the 'clearance sale' I believe it even more stock that is being reduced to 70% off ..

I've had 2 pairs of trainers (one pair cream, one pair white) for £7 each, down from about £25, a No Fear gortex-style weather/rain proof jacket for £20, down from £100+!, a few CAT T-shirts for about £5 each, down from about £20-25, a pair of CAT jeans, £35ish down to £8, couple of other shirts for a few £ each, down from about £12 :) I could go on ......

So regardless of whether it is really closing down or not, the prices in there are amazing ! :) Certainly not a con !

I didn't mean that Sports Soccer wasn't offering some things at great prices - what I meant was the idea that you have to "buy it quick before we close down" is a con.

  • Mos,

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry for insinuating that all the staff must be the same. I'm sure you & others do work hard & give a good service, I suppose I've just been unlucky with my experiences.

I would like to say that the staff at the Salford Regent Cresent shop are in the main very friendly and curtious!

Sorry wasn't directing that at anyone in particular, and I misunderstood - but yeh I agree with you there totally

I sometimes go into the Glasgow Sauchiehall St. shop and have always had good service from the staff. The prices compared to other high street sport shops means that they're stores are always packed. It's no wonder some of the staff look as if they're having as bad day all of the time.
Was in on Monday and got 15 Donnay golf balls marked down from £5 in the sale to £3.89 at the till (less than 26p each), also a Donnay graphite shaft driver for £10. I asked the girl at the till if they were closing and when, because they're windows sign does actually say 'Store Closing' and she said they hadn't been given a definate date yet but it would proably be around the middle of July. The queue's were massive, but there were 4 tills opened on the upstairs floor and 3 (I think) downstairs so there wasn't much of a wait. Hope they are only rebranding cos they offer good quality merchandise at greatly discounted prices, and that is what we're all in here looking for after all,.... a bargain...!!.

My experience of Sports Soccer / Soccer World / ExSports is that the "outlet" stores that I have visited (McArthur Glen, Mansfield and Peak Village near Matlock) tend to give better service than the city centre one (Derby).

can't complain about the service at junction 27 (M62) retail park, we bought a leeds utd shirt for a 3 year old reduced to a fiver which we were happy with, at till they said it should come with shorts & socks so went to find them & when couldn't we got it reduced again to £2.50. even better! agree that u can't take a pram in tho - although our local mothercare is just as bad!!

  • Hello,
Shop in Southport is also "closing down" . I went in monday and spent £42, but picked up jeans and jumpers for my kids, they had winter jackets, £5 I payed for coat for my little one. Bart Simpson Jeans and matching Jumper for my 6yr old. Jumper was £3.89, jeans not much more than that. Problem was, I couldn't find many items for 6-7yrs, or 7-8yrs, and a few bits I bought my 6yr old was aged 9-10yrs. I also bought hoody padded top for a few quid and tonka T-shirt £2, action man jacket for not much more, oh and a "Head" T-shirt to stop the hubby moaning, Bargain!!
Oh, I also agree the shop is a nightmare to get round with a buggy, but they did have all the tills on, as the queue was horrendous, and that was a "quiet" monday afternoon!! God help us if we go back on the weekend, as hubby suggested!! I am after a red liverpool kit for my 6yr old. Bet their not reduced!!
