they not actually closing down just being taken over by sportsworld .. they are selling all old stock then closing restocking and reopening under a new name.. i asked when i was in the store..

Surely this is now common knowledge, anyone buying anything in store will have noticed the Sports World carrier bags!

  • I am a youth worker and I have about £200 worth of sports soccer vouchers that I was giving away as prizes at our youth groups or buying sports resources - will the vouchers still be valid when it is taken over?

If not, when do the shops officially close as I'll need to spend

    Any help welcomed

    Thanks

    Matt

Don't get caught out, call into your local store and ask to speak to the manager for clarification.

spoke to the manager at my local branch and was told that they are not closing but that all branches are having a name change .
so they might close for a day or two but thats it for rebranding but thats it.

The truth is the owners, directors etc of these high priced shops must think that some of us are dim
Sorry but much of the stuff in Sports Soccer IS cheap!! Brand new pair of footie boots for my son for £12.49. 4 pairs adult Donnay socks for £2.00. Junior England away shirt £9.99. England rugby shirt (not official) £4.59.
I spent a bleeding fortune in the Milton Keynes shop today - too many bargains to turn down :) We got two fantastic "Kick !!!!!! Pirates" shirts for our sons today at £6.49 each. These are top quality kit and my boys liked them so much they insisted on putting them on at the sales counter and wearing them straight away! And Junior insisted on buying himself an Umbro football for £2.39!
They also had some half-sets of junior golf clubs for about £22 and full sets for £41, but I resisted the temptation.
All I have to do now is keep out of the store until it rebrands.

I just bought the new Spurs shirt for £32 in Sports Soccer Borehamwood (which is STILL closing down) whereas it's £45 in the Spurs Store! :money:
  • This is a national rebranding exercise

The owner of Sports World (formerly soccer) is rebranding most of the shops including Lillywhites, exports etc...

Considering it is one of the most profitable sports shops in the world owning many brands such as dunlop and donnay i think it unlikely they will actually be shutting -just coming back bigger and better with superstores i should think or refits to their shops!
