I agree with others that you are doing really well juggling all that you have to cope with for your dad and sister. Some self care is important.

Can you persuade dad to do one LPA at a time? It's sort of understandable that he baulks at the cost but it's for his benefit and will make things so much easier for you. It's a bit selfish to not make things as easy as possible for you. (Sorry dad 😉)

There are some circumstances when the fee can be reduced - not sure if any of these apply. I would start the forms as they are a bit time consuming and then when you are ready to send them off your dad might be a bit more amenable to the fees.

You are definitely not going to get sectioned- you are constantly showing us, randoms on the internet, how astonishingly brilliant you are at coping and staying sane in very trying circumstances; trained professionals will absolutely not be thinking otherwise

Hopefully the talking therapy will be a good opportunity for the more in-depth version of screaming into a pillow, which is also fully justified

@Rhyddid2026 @elsien @Blackcats @PennysIntoPounds thank you all for your supportive messages. I got back home and have to say that it must be dusty in here. It was a relatively ok day, I kept my cool, OH did loads more cleaning and our father was delighted to have his daughters visit.

In MSE news we took all food and snacks with us for all 3 people so no money spent apart from necessary petrol funded by my father.

The rest of the weekend is all about selfcare and looking after myself. I have a swollen foot from a mozzie bite so will be sitting with my feel up watching the F1 qualifying.

Oh good. My self care day was spent in A&E after my foot swelled up. A mosquito bite caused it. I went to a pharmacist this morning but they couldn't prescribe antibiotics under their guidelines so recommended the hospital. A mere 6 hours wait and home with some tablets. Eeergh.

Thanks PiP, not so much a planned self care day as a kick you onto the floor because you haven't taken care of yourself day. I have had medicinal doughnuts. Can't remember the last time I had them, quite a few years. I am enjoying the F1. Good luck with all your dire things going on, I hope your poor aching muscles feel better soon.

The antibiotics have kicked in and my foot is now back to looking and feeling like a foot and fitting into shoes. Thank goodness for modern medicine! Whilst I was at the hospital I had a very high bp reading so took it again today and it was normal. Just a bad and very stressful day.

My flurry of surveys in the last couple of weeks has netted me £20.90 to get closer to zero.

No money spent today - hurrah!

I called a local solicitor to get a quote for 2 LPAs which would be over £900 (£600 + VAT + filing fees). I think we will try and get in to see his longstanding GP so he just pays the filing charge.

A visit to the podiatrist because of a last minute cancellation means another longstanding job has been taken care of and my father is back on the regular appointments again in October.

I begged an advance copy of the medications that will be on his discharge letter and took the list to his pharmacy to ask about dosset packs. They don't do it but recommended pharmacy2u. Apparently the letter is no help at all and any medication will need to be ordered via the app anyway so a wasted trip on my part although we were just round the corner for the podiatrist. My father was totally anti the idea anyway and says he won't take his pills if the carer does it for him. At that point I managed to stay calm and quiet - go me!

While Little Sis and I were at the supermarket my cunning plan of putting her dry cleaning in the boot paid off so it has gone into be cleaned.

I managed to leave my water bottle in the lounge at my father's rehab centre but one of the nice people there has put it into his room for me - phew!

A few weeks ago I bought a new to me ancient iphone and traded in my old one through B@ckmarket. Royal Mail have sent my empty envelope back but B@ckmarket said they are processing my payment in 6 days. Very odd.

It has been a bit like that recently here Peb! Something about the best laid plans of mice and men. Mind you if that's the case I need more cheese. I love cheese. 3pm Friday onwards is self care weekend now - fingers crossed.

The first talking therapies session of 6 was yesterday. 30 minutes based a short workbook on stress with the bucket model etc. For some reason I thought it was an hour. I am not sure if it will increase or decrease my stress and I read a few books on stress management back in the day so there isn't much new in theory. The hard part of this is catching my thoughts in practice. She is fine to do a video session if I am away from London. Plus it is the only help offered to me so I will try and be open minded.

The lack of an LPA finally stopped me doing something for the first time. A woman who finds carers and care home spaces recommended by the social worker. Little Sis and I plan to ask the GP.

We went to a different quiz this week and our team won first prize. There was one point in it. A nice evening. My foot is doing ok but a bit swollen after walking around quite a bit more on it.

Prolific total £22.91 from my recent flurry of motivation. YNAB total -£93.02 and hopefully won't get worse today or tomorrow. CC balance to repay £115.93 £69.46 of that is a replacement watch for my father as his strap got a sharp bit and cut his wrist. He is paying for the petrol I use to visit him and drive my sister around which is a huge help.

Forgot to say I am starting to collect yeo tokens again as they introduced a code for a free caffe nero every 6 months if you upload 3 lots of tokens. I don't have coffee often but the blue brand are my fave and it is a nice treat.
