Logging into bank account every day?

I used to check most accounts daily, but with transaction alerts on apps for most institutions there is less need these days. I reconcile balances 2-3 times a week on my busier accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Just remember that bank notifications which appear on the Lock Screen and are readable if the device is locked are a security risk.2

I have that turned off (Android). You can see a popup, but content is hidden until unlocked.Theleak250 said:Just remember that bank notifications which appear on the Lock Screen and are readable if the device is locked are a security risk.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Make sure you don't erect any flags outside your house thenBridlington1 said:
Thanks for flagging this, don't want to get caught out by any new pole tax.HedgehogRulez said:i thought you had to check your balance at least 5 times a day or else it will raise KYC money laundering red flags.
Any new income/wealth/land tax would be unrelated to logging into your bank account, I do it daily usually to move money in or out for billsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The bank sent me a letter and removed it before I noticed, but I did get to keep the interest. These were in the days of blank Bank Giro Credit slips so someone probably wrote the wrong account number on it.Bridlington1 said:
I do the same, I've gone as far as to discover that Darlington BS won't let you withdraw anything less than £1 if you try typing ``0." first but do if you type ``10." and then remove the 1.danny13579 said:
It would be a very long list for me. I've been known to log in and move amounts as low as 1p across! Sad, I know.Jami74 said:Same. I did use to wonder if a human ever looked what they'd think of my multiple logging ins and sometimes moving small amounts of money all over the place and back again. But it's usual behaviour for me so nothing to flag.
Interesting (to me at least), that they're using client-side validation of input for that field (presumably JavaScript or similar). Someone discovered that the British Airways webpages could be manipulated using a JavaScript block to show the refund page when they'd hidden it during the pandemic to show only voucher refunds.Lloyds will contact you suggesting you log in if you don't do it for a while, so logging in frequently will prevent that.

Many, many years ago I paid for my car insurance by debit card over the phone, (this was in the days before home computers). On checking the bank balance at the ATM, I saw that the cash that I had allotted for the insurance had not been taken when I knew the insurance company had claimed the payment and sent me the papers. Being the honest person I am, I went into the bank and pointed this out. They rechecked every transaction over the month and sure enough the amount had not been taken. The assistant said that either the company had made a mistake or the wrong account had been debited. He did point out that if there was an error on theinsurance companies part, I could be driving uninsured. I did recheck with them and they were happy with the payment. Never heard anything more about it!miller said:UKX69 said:I check my bank and credit card accounts every morning. One thing I've found is that with Halifax/BoS payments don't show if received while you're logged in unless a transaction is made. So by moving 1p between my accounts it refreshes the balance and allows me to pay bills with the money credited.danny13579 said:
