The details on Snug are actually a little annoyingly hidden in their home page - thought it used to be labelled FAQ - now "... extra details" - and even their smart meter T&Cs with a Snug octopus specific section when it comes to how billed, how defaults in event of smart control failing etc etc.

    Sections 2.14.x specific to Snug

What I was quoted just now …

I’m  presuming they are no good as I need the meter to switch my off peak over for my storage heaters as they are older type

Both of those quotes look to be for E7, where the meter will switch your storage heaters. So either will work for you.
You can choose Snug after switching.

What I just got of EDF …however it does not state how the off peak hours are broken down ,nor did the guy on the phone know this

I have also spoken to octopus ..they offered me economy 7 , for peak  30.17 …offpeak 13.08 ..SC 58.07

then said I could go on SNUG once the change over was completed , so I still keep my afternoon boost

Rosie, I have only been on SNUG since the spring but after a few early problems I'm now very happy with it.  By the way my 3 storage heaters are called "heatstore" and are all over 30 years old.

In your earlier post in your Octopus quote it says you think you use around 9000 kwh off peak yearly.  If EDF have now completely got rid of E10 and your only EDF choice is an E7 off peak rate of 14p, then clearly you would make huge savings with the present 9p off peak rate of SNUG.  And of course you are getting that cheap afternoon hour with SNUG, which you don't get on E7.

Of course whether you switch or not is entirely up to you. 👍

Slightly off topic.  Scot_39, I recall you telling me a couple of months ago that your E10 off peak rate with Eon had risen to a whopping 19p.  What is your new off peak rate in July?

My storage heaters are old style box of bricks type

I have emailed edf for the off peak hours on those tariffs given to me this morning

I actually like my E10 as I get 3 hours in a afternoon to use washer / dryer etc

the 9000 was based on last years off peak usage , I got 5 hours overnight and 2 hours in the afternoon for that

I’ve only had this E10 a few months

but if they only offer me economy 7 I will move to octopus

Website uSwitch from time to time send me emails of the latest E7 prices that companies are offering.   I've just checked and I believe those quotes you've got from EDF are just E7.  I am in the East Midlands so my standing charge is significantly lower than yours but from the uSwitch screenshots you can see they are the same EDF plans that they sent you:

Thank you , I had a funny feeling they were , when I asked the guy he said E10  but he wasn’t sure

I said I wanted confirmation of this before I switched to it
