I'm sure you'll find someone, they're the UK's biggest supplier! And you can switch without the code, then add it later.

Rosie like you I also didn't know anyone who was on Octopus so I had to Google for a referral code.

I don't think I'm breaking any site rules because no website is called this but Google "stats on Octopus energy".  I recall Octopus energy interviewing one of the guys who does stats on Octopus energy and so Octopus energy are ok with most sites that do stats and reviews on them.

So you don't strictly need to use referral codes from only friends and family because virtually all these sites have a referral code that you can use.

Also if you do decide to try Octopus you would first have to sign to their variable "flexible octopus" tariff and then a few days later you should hopefully get an email to confirm that you smart meter is indeed "smart" and functioning correctly, then they will email to say you are now an octopus customer, then usually within days you would get the £50 referral code credit on your account.  Then if everything is ok then move onto the snug tariff.

As I understand it, you get a total of seven hours and get a degree of choice regarding how many are overnight and how many are in the afternoon.
Your old EDF tariff (before your smart meter) was split 5+2, I think? You should be able to ask for that again.

There's a lot of useful info on Octopus's various tariffs here:
They don't have a page for Snug, sadly, but you can see what the assorted other tariffs are!

SNUG guarantees 6 hours overnight - 0030 to 0630 iirc for everything  plus 1hr boost.

However you can set a lower number for overnight if want to limit bills, for restricted circuits for nsh and immersion etc.

    Edit
If they do go outside the 6 hrs, they also extend the night rate for those hours, just as they do for the afternoon boost.

See vienna28s examples here for 1hr selection

But it has been known to activate heating for longer - so e.g. 1130pm but in this case sometimes back off 0000 until 0030 some times in others all the way through

Sebtomato reported 7 hrs overnight on alcs - but 8 hrs on low rate (but no graph) plus tgd 1 hr boost

It seems a little random the exact timings - possibly reflecting market rates on the day.

    Only the core 6 guaranteed.

Not from their faq.  Only talks about 1 hr.  For most 3-4 or 4 -5 dst iirc plus response alcs delay.

The flexibility from the user end is afaik in selecting fewer than 6 hours overnight for alcs activation.  That doesn't change the tariff for those 6 hrs afaik from others graphs.

So for instance it could be used for a home with nsh and ev charging at c9p night rate or home battery.

However user charts here and elsewhere suggest Octopus voluntarily extend night often earlier start to 6.5, 7 and even 7 plus overnight is not uncommon (saw one user elsewhere report 1030pm to gone 0630 one night)

Have you seen posts suggesting 2 hrs in the afternoon somewhere - I could have missed them ?
