Might be just easier to switch to E7 and then move to Octopus and go on Snug. I don't think anyone on E7 will do better price-wise than on Snug (barring Utility Warehouse). Plus you get the afternoon 1 hour boost. That's my plan when my Eon Next 10p E7 night rate ends in late November.
Only get the boost when Octopus deem its cold enough !
That's fair enough. I get no boost now and have no need for one in summer. Those E10 rates were way too expensive anyway so you'd save loads by going to Snug.

There are a few posters here on Snug - they might have a better idea of what "winter" for afternoon boost means.

    Any comment ?

There was a thread on Snug? I think the afternoon boost lasted second edit into.May, but I don't remember anything about when in the year it started.

If you do switch to Octopus, don't forget to get a referral code from friends or family (we can't share them here). Every £50 helps!

During this present heatwave my afternoon snug cheap hour has remained.  So I am hoping the cheap snug hour is permanent.

As Scot_39 said poster "halffull" is like me on "snug" and if I remember correctly reading an old Rosie thread,  I believe me, halffull and Rosie all have a EDMI ES-12B smart meter?

From "halffull's" earlier thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6603270/metering-requirements-of-octopus-snug#latest he had some issues when switching to snug.  However from his last post he did eventually switch to snug.  I also had a few issues when first on snug that the Octopus smart metering team eventually fixed.  So Rosie if you decide to switch to snug you may/may not get some glitches early on that will quickly get fixed.

Rosie if you do switch to Octopus I would do the switch online and that way you can use somebody's referral code and then you will get a £50 credit switching to Octopus.

As earlier mentioned, when switching you first have to go onto their variable tariff and only then you can switch to the snug tariff.  So I would advise switching online, when doing that use somebody's referral code to make sure you get that £50 credit for switching to Octopus.

Yes - but later on in the thread - when the meter was once again controlled by Snug at snug times - the 4 pm 1hrs were back - and that cheap hour was back on @vienna28 's May 9th data but not on the 8th.
The meter had fully reverted to E7 the April loss date - back on Snug in May.

Oops - edit - just noticed your edit - sure was still Apr when read - maybe not hit quote button -

edit 2 - just noticed vienna28 - still boosting despite heatwaves.

My guess is solar in summer makes the afternoon boost sustainable - regardless of say wind in winter.

Grid iamkate been in the 10+ GW peak range again today early PM for solar when looked (13GW a week or so ago)

You can just tell them the three words in the referral code, if you'd prefer to phone Octopus to switch.

I did that when I switched in 2021, when noone seemed to be doing online switching (when all the prices were going crazy.)

And if you forget your referral code, you can phone / message them with it for a little while after switching and they'll add it then.
