Well, at least with UW lower rates you can have your heaters turned up full when it's cold to ensure they don't go too cool during the evenings. When it's really cold I put a fan heater on to supplement the living room heater for the last hour of off peak.1

Rosie1001 said:Based on my usage now .. UW works out approx £1600 a year …
EDF …£1950
the off peak is around £500 a year more with EDF
octopus fixed 12 m …is £1800
that’s all on E7 I think ….As UW night rates are cheaper you are winmimg on their see saw balance. However that mix might change as you now face the first winter without your afternoon boost in place.Your old NSH iirc can take in c14kWh of energy on your 5+2 so old 2 hr boost slot.If were to assume 7 kWh - (equivlent to needing 1 1 kW heater on solid for 3.5 hrs in both locations in late afternoons and evenings - on average over say 4 months of a harsh winter (overnight should last on all but the coldest days) - plus say 3 machine loads of washing at 1kWh each per week - you might easily shift say 1000 kWh - making that mix 3000 vs 7000 etc.Need more - like all 14 kWh - (bearing in mind they might take more over 7 hrs than 5 hrs on highest settings - so hopefully pessimistic) - maybe pushing 4000 vs 6000 off peak.Still more than enough vs SR - but youd have to crunch the maths for different E7 rates. As long as you didnt get to say 6000 vs 4000 or 6500 vs 3500 - youd still be saving vs single rate - but the £350 savings predicted - are very sensitive to the % of use.PS UW fixes seem to have a decent premium ( in part the variable seems to have a c10p discount on SC)Anyone up with current fixes - how does that £100 premium at UW stack up - does it drop on fixes if bndle up - so is it a ploy to sign up to a tied deal with mobile or broadband etc ?

If click on tariff info it should give both rates and the SC to compare with EDFs. You've certainly supplied day / night (well peak off peak) use.My first thought was if you were going to try out Snug - you might want to go flexible - but iirc many Octopus (12m at least) fixes were (still are ? - I'd check first) free exit fee deals anyway. So if still true - you might as well take the lower charges from day 1 - and maybe have a couple of months of hopefully meter / supplier stress free life (after the last x months of EDF - you surely deserve it) before the big winter bills become due.And dont forget once on e7 you should be able to hop on Snug to see if that 6+1 split works and works better for you heatwise - and thats still no wiring changes at your end.And as other posts in past for you - do try to get a £50 referral code from friends or family - or as links posted.Welsome to the devil in the detail and the guess work.See above re mix assumptionsThe 11m does take a little of the shine off the c9p rate - more so in the afternoon. But on a standard E7 deal you could be paying 32p - on an aggressive e7 split like your variable UW quote - 35.7? p/kWh for any heating that would occur in that 1 hr - or later in the evening to replace it. And your old NSH both c3.4kWh input tpye size iirc - could take nearly 7 kWh on Snug's 1 hr slot.0

I wouldn't bundle. Putting all your eggs in the same basket makes it harder to leave. Plus with no exit fees, you could always switch away again to another supplier for a cheaper day rate for 6 months over late Spring/Summer/ early Autumn.1
