That's not the meter, its the In Home Display (IHD).

You'll need to check your actual meter (by pressing a few buttons) to see the rate it stores. It should be the same as the IHD, but don't assume so.

Just to clear up a misunderstanding here: the tariff Rosie is supposed to be on according to the email notification she received is a Standard Variable one, just not single-rate. It's called Standard Variable Economy 10. The rates are liable to change with the price cap each quarter. This is the tariff she should be billed on, not the single-rate Standard Variable she has been billed on. This seems to be cause for a formal complaint.

The Tracker tariff in your 30 June screenshot looks to be a red herring, superseded by the one showing the Standard Variable Economy 10.

I'd take the compensation and then ask for your old MPAN details to be updated on the national database to reflect your smart meter setup. Also get them to put you on E7 and then switch to Octopus Snug.

Hi - I'm reading that to say that when they previously advised you that you could stay on E10 they were wrong, and in recognition of that mistake they are offering you £175 in compensation. They are also asking if you want to change from the current single rate SVR to an alternative tarriff. I presume that the £175 will cover you for the "loss" on the last bill? If that's the case then there's probably not much to be gained by talking to them further - why not just accept the £175, stick with the plan and move to Octopus? I realise the whole experience is likely to stick in you throat, but I can't help thinking you'll be in for endless frustration for very little gain if you persevere with this.
