Some months ago I found a nice door sized velvet curtain at 75% off. It was destined for my bedroom doorway but the existing 'it'll do' emerald green door curtain turned out to need a drill and a hammer to remove (Mr Redo had had to make a bespoke hanging rail thing due to the odd shape of one of the oldest bits of house) and it was just to much like hard work. Dear reader, today I cleared the stuff that was in the way (more reels of thread than I will ever use and a huge laptop bag, both into the charity shop box), bravely climbed onto a step stool, and used the drill without adult supervision. The new curtain looks lovely - good deep teal colour on both sides and has 'lifted' that corridor a little. The old one is in the washing machine ready to go in the charity pile once it is dry.
The drill is safely back in the correct place. Unlike the jigsaw which is still upstairs from my last attempt at using power tools. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

How very satisfying @redofromstart 😊
I’ve paid the builders merchant bill immediately so it doesn’t become an OAT.
Dropped off a good heap of clutter at the hospice shop along with my gift aid reference 😊
Had a first go at the sit spot border to clear spring stuff to make room for summer stuff - this is late because I have been battling with the veggie patch, but enough is enough! I have plants that must go in the ground!! 😉

Oh, an OAT has been done for me …! 😊
I’ve been meaning to check for a while that my accommodation is sorted for my heading-to-wales trip in July. The owner of the establishment has just emailed me to apologise for any strange message I might get from h0liday.com because she’s got her system in a muddle, but I am definitely booked in 😊

Manicure and pedicure accomplished this morning finishing the week off very nicely thank you. I kept saying to my DH “must go and do some ironing” followed by “oops I’ve done ALL my ironing” - so satisfying but he just thinks I’ve finally lost it!
Lovely new black kitchen tap arrived today and nice plumber coming to fit it at 9 tomorrow. I am strangely very excited by this event - must be an age related thing and definitely nothing to do with my overweight middle aged plumber!
Next week’s diary has nothing in it. Zilch. It worries me. I must find some OATS - they are there lurking.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

What an unnecessary nuisance @greenbee, hope you can find a satisfactory and quick solution
I am in awe @redofromstart, and love the sound of the deep teal colour
Lack of tasks is very unsettling @Sallyforth! There must be a cupboard that needs sorting or a form that needs filling in. Do you need to do a tax return?!
Excellent first week of June work all!3 -
Well done redo. Would you like to come and sort out my blinds?
The gardener managed to get the blind with the wrong fixins up temporarily (by swapping some bits around) while we wait for the correct replacement parts. However, the replacement blind for the one that was remade has arrived... and has been made exactly the same size! So that's a phonecall to make tomorrow morning.
I did sort out a duplicate online order from last night, so that's been cancelled and a refund is apparently on it's way. I also finally cooked and ate the cavolo nero I picked yesterday (the less said about the woolly aphids that may or may not have been washed off the better) and added some spinach to tonight's supper. I need to sort out some rhubarb that's been lurking in the fridge for ages, and cook it with some of the billions of strawberries I also picked yesterday!
Finally, I've made two of the three remaining obelisks - the gardener dug holes, so when I acquire the roses I want I can put them in properly (with a spirit level).
I just need to eat, maybe have a bath, and stay awake long enough to put the dog out before he goes to bed!
Tomorrow's inside tasks include making sure spare rooms and bathrooms are fit for visitors, sorting out the fly screens on the doors and putting the winter curtains back on one door, and working out how I'm going to block the view into the kitchen!
Outside depends on the weather - certainly some tidying and hiding of random buckets and hoses, but possibly also dealing with the grass in the veg plot, netting some of the fruit, and tying up the fig. Hopefully I remember to come back here to find my list!3 -
A bit of an OAT here, not really on my list but part of the long term plan to sort the living room out!
Mr Cheery has attached the TV to the wall 😊 This means we can get rid of the cupboard it sat on, and make better use of the awkward space. Obviously it was a massive pig of a job, as all DIY tasks are and has taken nearly a fortnight to get round to all the various stages 😬 But it's up there now, and he's tidying up, so hooray!
(We're ignoring the fact that the whole living room needs decorating, particularly that wall, which is missing large chunks of plaster. Cant do everything at once, and sometimes if you wait for the perfect time to do the FIRST thing, you lose all momentum and don't do anything...)

Well that taught me didn’t it just to say I had no tasks. What an idiot am I? Firstly clearing out the cupboards under the sink at the crack of dawn for the plumber to fit the new kitchen tap. There was a whole new World in those cupboards but now all thankfully returned neat and tidy minus at least 50% carp in bin!
This gets me around to thinking about other cupboards that need a good sort out including the coffee table drawer of doom …
Yet hey @PennysIntoPounds I actually did my tax return - get me!Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

so yesterday the cupboard under the stairs was done, and now looks neat & tidy. Today I have taken plastic to be recycled and finally emptied out the Vax and washed the filter, which seemed to have a bit of a smell. Hoping to get some more decluttering done tomorrow.Making the debt go down and savings go up
