Summertime

One frugal summer afternoon out is to David Austin Roses. They are glorious in June, a delight to stroll round the gardens. There is a tea shop and gift shop, but they are not obligatory.
Take time to enjoy the summer.5 -
Did an hour's walk to get an old 50p changed, which was threatening to achieve full OAT status, and cleaned a pair of trainers to list for sale, which I'd put in an annoying place to make me do, but had so far just been annoying me 😁4

I've ordered the wadding I need to make the sofa seat pad so, when it arrives, that will be one OAT I can start on. I may also have "accidentally" ordered some fabric to make curtains for the kitchen. The windows aren't a standard size so it's easier to make my own rather than trawl around looking for the right fit. The making of those will be on July's OAT list when the kitchen gets painted.
I've also had a cost-free brainwave for sorting and organising the TV/aerial/stereo cables; I have a long length of plastic waste pipe that I can cut into sections and tuck the folded up cables inside. It's white so won't be noticeable against the skirting boards that are also white.Be kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
New mobile phone case arrived. This has been an ongoing and frustrating epic, finally resolved thanks to a young colleague in work digging deep through bay of e for me 😊 I will have to look for an opportunity to repay him in some way.

Took box of books to parcel locker today - am most impressed with myself, as it was only packaged up yesterday, so had no time to achieve true OAT status! 😁
Listed 2 pieces of DS3's school uniform on fbook (he's doing his GCSEs and his school doesn't have a 6th form, so he won't need these come Sept) Didn't list anything else on fbook/ v1nted/ fleabay, but did give the range hob, backsplash and extractor hood (and filters) a thorough clean.

Realised I hadn't actually booked the collection for my tech parcel, so that will be going off tomorrow.
Back to work today, and dealing with the fallout from some interesting things that happened while I was away. Mostly trawling through email.
So not much else done - watering (and remembered to do the trees, but not the fruit bushes), transplanting some of the billion marigolds from the broad bed to fill gaps in the veg plot - they're lovely and cheery and can just be pulled out when the space is needed for other things, and getting three more bags of mulch onto the borders. That's 6 down, 34 to go...
Sprinkler needs moving, there's one more section to do (so many new plants in the borders this is the most effective option, and hopefully won't be needed once I've mulched the damp ground). And then I can go to bed. The dog thinks we should all be in bed already!4 -
@greenbee I agree with the dog.
I found the receipts for items that needed to be returned.
Returned 3 items for refunds, 2 didn't fit, the other had gone off 10 days before the use by date.
Did the bins/watering/post for my parents who are away enjoying a holiday.
Did the rest of the money transfers now it is the 1st working day of the month.
Did many journeys being a taxi for the children.

After 5 weeks I have raised an expenses claim for my new safety shoes that I purchased after 1 day of wearing my old ones again. (4.5 of those weeks was waiting for the expenses App to be added to my part of the HR cloud-thingy ....).
Not a huge amount of money (£37.97) but better in my pocket than theirs!

Listed a beautiful chair that needs some upcycling love on olio last night and someone collected it today 😊
It'd been sitting there for months and I'd stopped 'seeing' it but knew it was taking up space and not living its best life. Very pleased someone can restore and use it7
